MCR One Shot

Chapter 1

My name is Gerard Arthur Way, I'm 23 and I'm a schizophrenic. I work as a secret investigator for a company which I cannot name, we'll just call it the Company for now. I have a little brother, Mikey and I have the duty of protecting him. Our parents died when I was 10, and ever since I have been looking after him. If anything happens to him, it's my job to save him. He hates this, he feels like he has to be independent, but the job I have means any family member is at risk.

It was 31st October and I was at home. I always have a day off on Halloween as it's Frank's birthday. Frank is my hallucination. He tells me things, he knows everything. He always knows what's happening even if it's 1000s of miles away. This is how I have my job. I know when something bad is going to happen, I know if someone is lying because Frank tells me. I'd poured my first cup of coffee of the day and sat down to watch TV. It was Halloween which meant binge watching horror movies; I started off with the Saw series. I normally do this with Mikey but he's spending it with his new boyfriend Ray. Kinda disappointing really because it's a tradition we have that we've done every year for 11 years. But at least Frank's here. He doesn't like us not being at work, he doesn't like taking a break. Sometimes he gets angry with me if I take a day off but as it's his birthday he isn't as angry as usual.

"So Frank. Anything going on in the world right now?" I ask him.

"Well Detective Ross and his assistant Dr. Urie are currently investigating the scandal in Washington, with the presidents assistant. And Lieutenant Kemp and Sumner are currently at the Houses of Parliament as there is some documents missing."  He replies.

Frank is quite short for his age, which is the same as mine. He has black hair glossy hair and tattoos, my favourite is the scorpion on his neck. He always wears a black hoodie and black jeans, this means he always looks mysterious, which when you are a young child and first discovering who Frank is can be quite scary but I've become accustom to it. He's quite strange as sometimes I can see Frank and other times I can;t, which can be confusing. When I was younger, I was put in a mental facility for about 6 months as this is when Frank became his strongest. He would persuade me to do things like hurt someone as he knew what they had done but I hated doing and decided to use my knowledge and tell other people; this is how I came to have the job I currently have now. The Company became interested in me by seeing how many police cases I, well Frank, helped solve. They know I have a mental illness but they did not care of what I actually had as long as it benefited me and helped me to solve crimes.

As I was about to get up and get another cup of coffee, I could hear Frank saying hey Gerard listen, similar to Navi, the fairy companion in The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time. I was confused as I saw him as a vision, but now he's only an audio hallucination, this normally only happens when he is away and finding out information. But today is our day off and we agreed not to work and investigate stuff unless it was an emergency.

Once Frank returned as visual, I saw the horror on his face.

"We need to drive. NOW!" Frank shouts at me. I'm extremely confused and frightened.What's happened? I get in the car and drive to Frank's instructions. Suddenly, he tells me to pull over to the side of an old back road.

"Frank please explain what's going on?" I say with tears in my eyes. Frank has only done this once before, and it was just before my parents died, this lead me to believe the worst had happened.

"Gerard. Okay. Mikey's in trouble. I'm not sure why I couldn't see."

"But, you know everything. You always know what happens." I say

"I know I do but this time I can't and I don't know why. All I know is he's in really danger. We need to keep driving."

I nod and begin to drive again. Mikey. In danger. But why, how what's happened. It could be only a little problem but Frank's never acted like this when something little happens to him.
