"Alright, unless you're name ends with Jones you can't talk for the next five minutes." Mrs. Jones spoke sternly. She was head of the PTO committee and the mother of Alfred Jones, of whom is the root of most of her stress. Her short dirty blonde bob and dark blue eyes were definetely similar to that of Alfred, but her personality and work ethic were hers alone. "Now, for this years homecoming, I'm thinking to shake things up. No more of that stereotypical starry night crap, I want something new. Something fresh." Mrs. Jones motions towards a box on the table next to her labeled "SUGGESTIONS FOR THEME".
"Anyone with a decent suggestion may enter it, but I swear to God, Buddha, and the one eyed one horned flying purple people eater that if I find one more suggestion about some under the stars thing I will burn the box!" She pushes her glasses back up and fixes her blouse. "Now, onto food preperations, I-" But before Mrs. Jones could speak another word, Alfred and Arthur burst through the door like a bull in a china shop. They dropped to their knees and tried to catch their breath. The entire homecoming commitee nearly pissed themselves at the sudden commotion, and Mrs. Jones nearly broke a blood vessel.
"alFRED F. JONES HOW DARE YOU BURST INTO HERE LIKE YOU OWN THE PLACE?!" She yelled, briskly trudging towards him. A nervous grin spread across his face, "H-hey Mom! Fancy seeing you here!" Alfred spoke shakely. His mother dragged him by the ear towards the exit. Before she could throw him out the door, Arthur grabbed her wrist. "P-please! He was just guiding me to the library because I was interested in joining the homecoming commitee." Arthur said with a tad of fear in his voice, the woman before him scaring the hell out of him and every one else in the room.
He stood awkwardly, adjusting his bag strap and pushing a strand of blonde hair behind his ear. Suddenly turning cheery, Mrs. Jones smiled sweetly and let go of Alfred's ear saying, "Oh, are you new to this school? My name is Martha Jones, I am Alfred's mother and head of the commitee." She outstretches her hand to him and Arthur returns it. "Arthur Kirkland, pleased to meet you, Mrs. Jones. I am indeed new but I'm glad to have already made a friend." He spoke, looking towards Alfred, who was still slumped on the floor in defeat of his mother's wrath. He didn't even attempt to look cool.
"Well I hope he is treating you alright, Alfred can sure be a handful. But he can be sweet if he wants to be." Mrs. Jones spoke. She picks Alfred up by his arm and holds him up for everyone to see. "Isn't that right, Alfie?" She said through her teeth. Alfred finally rose to his feet, shaking off the dirt of the floor like a dog. "Whelp, I better getting going see you later!" Alfred said quickly whilst turning on his heels towards the exit. "Oh no you don't! You should stay here with Arthur here so he doesn't feel like a wallflower." Mrs. Jones spoke with a fire in her eyes.
A short girl raises her hand slightly and whimpered, "Um, Mrs. Jones? Shouldn't we continue with the meeting?" Mrs. Jones looked towards the girl and said, "Yes yes, Michelle, sorry for the interruption." She looks back to the boys and says, "Arthur, Alfred, you should sit in on this meeting and get a feel for what the commitee is like!" Arthur sits down in a chair and glances Alfred, almost pleading for him to stay. Alfred sighs softly and plops down in the chair opposite of Arthur.
The meeting ends a little later, and Arthur and Mrs. Jones are talking privately in the corner of the library. Alfred turns to leave, but a small hand grabs his wrist. "Come on, Mom, I gotta-" He started but realized it wasn't Mrs. Jones, but rather Michelle. "Oh sorry, I thought it was Mrs. Jones." Alfred spoke embarrassed. With her fudge brown pigtails tied in deep red ribbons, Michelle didn't look him in the eyes, her dark brown eyes darting around nervously. "Are you... going to come back later?" Michelle spoke softly.
"What?" He asked surprised. "It's just, we have a small party for the commitee members after school and I wanted to know if you'd come back later." She muttered. Alfred ruffles his hair, embarrassed, and shifts his weight. Arthur noticed their awkward confrontation and suddenly became a little... Upset? No that's not the word. What was it? Anyways, Alfred replied sheepishly, "Sorry but I have football practice after school, we have the homecoming game coming up, ya know?"
Michelle drew away, "Oh yeah, sorry, I forgot." She ran around him and whispers, "See you later maybe!" And darted off. Alfred tilts his head, what a strange girl, he thought. Kinda cute though, but not really my type. Arthur approaches Alfred with a grin, "I'm on the committee now!" Alfred smiles, "Dude that's awesome. I'm glad the boss let you on, she can be picky of who joins." Arthur shifts his weight and mutters, "Yeah about that..." He looks Alfred in the eyes, which sends a rush of chills down Alfred's spine, and Arthur says, "You're on the committee now, too."
//A.N. Alright, alright, I know that's a weird place to end it but I had to sometime. And if you guys couldn't tell, Michelle is supposed to represent Seychelles. *dun dun dun* Sorry for not updating for so long but yeah, here ya go//
