Shiloh's POV

Today was the day. One of the many days that I had been hoping for since my middle school years, the day where I can make a speech and rub everything I've ever wanted into certain people's faces. I haven't spoken to Luke in months, ever since Calum and I made everything official, although I'm not sure he's knows.

I was standing with the rest of my class as we chatted up, throwing on our hats and gowns while we waited to get called down. I'm glad I lived to experience this.

I stood with my note cards in hand, although I've read them over and over again I'm pretty sure I can memorize it by now.

I was so ready for this night, I was ready for it before it even came. My phone vibrated, notifying me I had a message. When I pulled out my phone, I saw a message from Calum.

Cal; hey baby, lukes here just to let you know. ill see your beautiful face in a few. x

Cal always knew how to make me smile. Although, I'm surprised Luke even came tonight, I was glad. He was in my speech that I would be making tonight. I hadn't told my speech to Calum or even my mom who was also out there tonight.

Getting called down made the butterflies in my stomach turn into hungry lions. I was excited, but I mean who wouldn't be nervous speaking in front of every senior in your school, their parents, your boyfriend and your ex.

The Speech

(the speech is going to be pretty long, but i swear it's worth reading!)

"Most of you know me already, most of you don't. All my life, I was labeled as one thing or another, weither it was 'nerd' or 'outcast.' We all, have got called names. We've experience all of it, together. Now, I know this is supposed to be more of an education related speech, but in a way, this can relate to education. A few months before school, I went to a concert. A concert that changed my life forever. It was a band that I was obsessed over. I spent all my hard earned money on their music, their merch. I dedicated my life to these 4 idiots. Let's skip to about a week later. I was actually on tour with them, crazy right? My life was becoming the fanfiction that I had always dreamed it would become and it was changing faster than a rollercoaster. I got to talk to who I thought, was the love of my life. One of the 4 boys that saved my life. But of course, things like that don't just come for free." I was now laughing at myself. It seemed like just yesterday I was singing along to the love of my lives, now I'm on a podium, talking about my past relationship with him.

"You learn that over time, people become who they said they weren't gonna become. You realize that the more you get to know someone, they more they become a stranger to you. You tell yourself, 'this is not who I fell in love with.'  Just because you think you know someone, doesn't mean you really know them. You have no idea what that person is capable of, until they show you. Then, you meet someone, who proves to you that you could love again when you thought you'd never be able to. You then realize, that even though you've been hurt, there's always someone or something right for you. I've found my soulmate and even though I went through hell to find him, I'm glad I did it. If you think, 'I'm never gonna go to college or be excepted' or 'I'm never gonna be successful' just remember, you go through the worst pain to get the best gain."

After the Ceremony

I was speaking with my graduated class outside of the school. We were making our plans to meet up after college acceptance and tell each other our college.

That's when Luke came and tapped me on the shoulder. His hands were shoved into the front pockets of his black skinny jeans. "I'm proud of you." He smiled at me lightly. I didn't want to completely ignore him, so I gave him a simple, "Thank you" and turned back around. He tapped on me again.

"Listen, I'm so sorry and I know words can't fix the wounds I've caused, but I want to fix you myself. I want to be the reason you're happy, not the reason you cry."

"Luke, you're too late for that."

"I know, Shy, please."

"Shiloh."

"Shiloh, please."

I gave Luke a warm smile as I saw Calum stare Luke down. "Goodbye, Luke."
