[This plays on an alternative timeline where Belial didn't go all evil but still caused a lot of problems, he was banned from returning to the garrison, He now works at the science and research facility as a robotics expert and tries to keep a low profile.]
===================================================================
He could hear the interns whispering about him again... Most were curious whispers wondering why he was there? Others were harsh and exaggerated claims about the incident that lead to his sudden career change. Belial tried to ignore them as he worked on a circuit board, he learned a long time ago that they weren't worth confronting; it'll just cause him more problems in the long run.
Plus it'll caused another headache for 'Father'... Belial couldn't help but snort at the title, out of all the things Ken could've picked why "Father'? He'll never get it. But it was was thanks to Ken and his new position as the IGDF Commander that Belial was here building robots and not rotting away in a prison cell right now...
Just then a small alert went off on Belial's personal tablet his eyes lit up as up as he moved from his station and started stretching his tired limbs. "Time to go home..." Belial said with sigh as he quickly double checked his work and uploaded a few data back ups before shutting everything down for the night.
As Belial was walking through the corridors he passed by Hikari's lab and saw the Blue captain and his intern Tregear working on something they both gave he slight nod when he said goodnight.
Tregear eyes lingered on the red ultra before returning to his notes. "He seems happier these days, doesn't he?" he said as Hikari looked over some blueprints. "I suppose he is." there was a hint of suspicion in Hikari's tone.
Hikari was assigned to keep an eye on Belial ever since he was forcibly employed to research facility; the former warrior hardly acknowledged his peers and usually just kept to himself, but recently? He's been more helpful and sociable to everyone it was setting off a few alarms, But Father just waved off Hikari's concerns.
He assumed something good must've happened in Belial's private life... maybe he finally got a partner? or maybe a pet? Either way it was good to see Belial in such high spirits.
Turns out Father was correct in his assumption that something good happened in Belial's life, because when the former warrior returned to his home he turned on the lights; pausing briefly to scan over the mess of books and papers scattered around his living room. "I'm gonna have to clean this all up soon..." He mumbled as he made a pot of coffee.
While the coffee was brewing Belial then went over to a wall in the back of the house, he put his hand on a scanner disguised a framed picture on the wall a hidden door opened up and he walked inside. the room was dark and quiet save for the low hum of the Gestation pod set up in the center of the room.
Belial pulled up a holo-screen as he gently patted the pod. " Okay, little guy, let's see how you're doing today..." he said reading over the pod's vitals, everything was in the green though the temperature needed some tweaking. "Looks good, let's what you'll look like visually, eh?" another screen popped up and Belial examined the baby's possible features when they're older.
"Blue eyes, huh? Must be a recessive gene from your grandmother, she had nice eyes. " Belial said in a somber tone as he transferred some of his energy into the pod. "I can't believe I'm doing this...I can be in a lot of trouble because of you." Cloning Is not widely accepted on M78, cloning limbs after an amputation? That's totally okay. But a whole person? Hell no. Belial was playing devil' advocate and he knew this, but he didn't care. ...
He just needed to feel wanted by someone...
Soon the quiet was interrupted by someone knocking on his front door! Belial quickly walked out of the room and went to see who was visiting him? Hardly anyone comes to see him! Belial looked out the peephole and saw Ke...Father awkwardly standing on his porch. *What does he want?* the former warrior thought as he opened the door a crack, Father smiled as he saw his friend's face. "Ah, Belial I-" Belial cut him off. " Whaddya want Ken?"
"I just wanted to see how you were doing?"
"Am I in trouble?"
"No, you're not-"
"Then what's the point of you coming here like you're confronting me about something?"
Belial and Father stared each other down for a moments before Father sighed. "Your right, I'm sorry. Hikari alerted me about your recent attitude change." Belial bristled at this "What, so I'm not allowed to be happy?" Father quickly backtracked. "No, no I didn't say that!" He tried to calm his friend down but it seem to annoy Belial even more. "Get the fuck off my porch Ken!" he snapped before slamming the door in the commander's face.
Belial marched back into the gestation pod room and sat down next to it, he sighed as he ran a hand over his face, before turning to look at the bean chilling in the pod. "Hey kid, do me a favor, when you grow up?" Belial gently pats the pod. "Don't be a hero, I've had enough of them..." he said a with bitter laugh.
