Chapter 6

My grandfather and Louise shook hands and once they finished, she turned to look at her son expectantly.

“Easton,” she whispered trying to relieve the tension between her son and the King fae.

He took the six steps needed (yes I counted) and my grandfather latched onto his hand for a shake, “the Alpha I presume?”

“That would be correct, winger.” He replied with an eye roll and the look of distaste. With repugnance, he removed his hand and wiped it onto his nice fitting jeans.

“Easton,” his mother scolded. “I am so sorry King,” she said turning back to my grandfather, “my son here thinks his role as Alpha means that he can disregard rules of courtesy.” The beta let out a quick laugh which was ended with a scowl on Easton’s part.

My grandfather just smiled and nodded, “it is all right Louise. He’ll warm up to us eventually. He is probably in shock that fairies still exist.”

The Alpha’s eyes were searing into my grandfathers. How could someone so good looking be so rude? Wolves…

“Well,” Louise said, “please follow me to your new home.”

When she said home, I couldn’t help but smile. Sleeping on the grass was miserable and sleep in general was blipped. My back now hurt and I had done something that I had promised I would never do again. I had crawled back to Art after months of promising myself that I would not. He had hurt me and I had disregarded it.

How could I be so stupid?!

As the fairies began to gather their belongings, I watched with sleepy eyes and was jolted back when a hand squeezed my own. I looked down and saw my hand laced with a masculine one. With my eyes I followed the arm up and came to find Art staring down at me with nothing but care in his eyes.

My eyes widened and I snatched my hand back. I took a few steps back and watched as his eyes turned from shocked to sad. “Keeva, what’s wrong?” he asked, brows together.

“I can’t do this Art,” I squeaked. “You hurt me. I’m sorry if I led you on but I can’t do this right now.”

“Shimmer, c’mon,” he pleaded. “Last night, you came to me. That must mean something.”

I shook my head, “I’m sorry Art.”

“Kee...”

“You should go find your family,” I stated dismissively. He looked into my eyes questioning whether or not I was serious.

He seemed to have gotten his answer and walked to his mother and brothers.
