Chapter Fourteen

{NOT EDITED}

"Easton, I'm nervous."

My left hand was frantically clasping my right and the nervous tingles in my stomach had multiplied. His eyes snapped toawrd me, the caramel color burning with confusion.

"For what? It's just my mom."

I shook my head, " No, what if she--"

Before I could finish, there were two melodious knocks on the door in which Easton and I both turned our heads for. Easton stood with confidence and walked to the door. when his hand was on the knob, he turned to me and smiled. As a smile graced my face, Easton slipped out the door to join his mother rather than letting her in.

i sat shocked, wondering if he had changed his mind and turned her away. From beyond the door, I could hear murmering insinuating that I had not been forgotten.

I don't know why but I was truly nervous to meet Easton's mother. I really wanted her to like me, like me on a level I have never before wanted an adult to like me. For some reason I wanted her to approve of me, like me, and be a friend to me. But why? Why did I want this? Easton. I felt a pull towards him. When it was the two of us I felt different, more insync with my movements and body.

My wings were now aching. Ugh, these pink ones seem to have a mind of their own.

"Hello," a gracious and endearing voice said, breaking me from my thoughts. I looked up and saw that it was Easton's mother who must have let herself in while I was deep in thought. Easton on the other hand was no where to be found.

"Hi," I said shakily, standing up and going for a handshake.

Instead, his mother pulled me in for a hug.

"It is so nice to finally meet you."

"Uh, you too." When she pulled away, she took hold of my shoulders and looked me dead in the eyes and then at my wings which were on full display. I had the sudden urge to cover them up.

"Take a seat," she released my shoulders and took a seat on the bed beside me. "The name is Louise and you are Keeva. The Kings granddaughter and the current duster, I see." I nodded, "No need to be afraid or nervous, I'm here to help."

"Okay Mrs.Wilde."

"No, no, no. Call me Lou, over time we will," she looked to be picking her next words carefully. "Will be like a family."

I smiled in response wondering what that meant. Is the wolf community that close knit?

I did not say anything and I felt her eyes on my wings. The dust had dried up and stopped falling except for the few flakes here and there.

"I've never seen pink wings before but I have heard of them once."

My head snapped up, "Really?"

"Yes, I don't know the story well but if I look through some of the library books I'll find the story somewhere. Your wings are impeccable though, the most alluring I have ever witnessed."

"How?""

"What do you mean?"

"How do you know about fairies and my grandfather and well," I motioned to my wings, "dusting?"

A pearly white smile lit up her petite face, "I'm a fae enthusiest."

"What do you mean?"

"Growing up I had a fascination with the Fae and it blossomed over the course of my young life. I decided to go on a hunt and track down every lead I came across in search for relics or even a fairy. That's when I came across Iona Gardens and your civilization. I lived with them in peace for three years. I thought they would turn me away because I was human--"
