One, two...
My body burned with rage, my head ached and my fists clenched un voluntarily at my sides.
Three, four...
He laughed, throwing his head back and clapping his hands together gleefully.
Five, six...
His friend placed a playful punch on his shoulder and flicked out his fingers, knocking my shot glass over, the warm liquid spilling over the table.
Breathe, Caleb, breathe.
I stood, hitting the table forward into the laughing mans knee. He grunted, grabbing his knee and scowling. "You stupid mutt!" His friend exclaimed, sliding from his chair and squaring up to me. A few inches shorter than me, he looked up and locked my eyes with an angry stare. His bright blue eyes stared me down but I matched his glare with my own. "Take a joke, boy." He spat, pushing hard at my shoulders. I didn't budge, I simply placed my large hand on his shoulder and squeezed hard. His knees gave way and he crumpled to the floor.
"I am your alpha, not a boy." I snarled, stepping on his hand as he tried to stand. "Watch your mouth, Russell."
He laughed, using his free hand to rub his injured shoulder. "You're not the alpha yet, Caleb." My knee collided with his jaw so suddenly it surprised even me. Russell's unconscious body made the other weres think better than to provoke me further, I may not yet be the alpha but my anger matched if not bettered that of my fathers.
"Get him home." I muttered, eyeing the man whose knee I had knocked with the table. I threw money on the table for my drinks and turned from the now silent weres. I felt there eyes on me as I left the bar.
"Damn it." I climbed into my truck and slammed the door shut. I angrily thrust the key into the ignition and turned it. "God damn it!" I hit the steering wheel with my palms repeatedly, my breathing rapidly slowing. "Alpha douchebag." I muttered, driving from the bar and out onto the road.
Trees and street lights past in a blur as I internally cussed at myself for my out of control anger.
I pulled into my driveway and slipped lazily out of my car. I leant against the black vehicle, verbally attacking myself in hushed whispers. That's when the scent whipped around me, filling my senses and over coming me.
"Goodnight, darling." My mother kissed my forehead. I gave her a small smile and closed my bedroom door. I turned, pressing my back against the cold wood and sighed. This new bedroom was bigger than my old one but in no way as homely. My bed was pushed against the far wall, the window above it. I smiled, the sun hitting my face in the morning was one of my favourite sensations.
I heard a car outside and moved towards my bed, brushing my fingers lightly across the framed, intricate writing of my name. The glittery letters all swirled into one line reading 'Tessie'. My smile lit up my green eyes as I knelt down on my bed and looked out of the window. The houses lining the other side of the road mirrored mine but I noticed that my side of the road was much more alive at night, lights on in the houses and laughing families and friends. I looked down to my left, noticing a car parked in the drive way with a young man stood beside it, banging his head against the metal. I raised a dainty eyebrow in confusion and shuffled closer to the glass. I couldn't see clearly due to the dark night around him but I could make out short, dark hair atop his head, he was tall, having to bend his back slightly to touch his head to the truck. He lifted his hand to run it through his hair and stepped away from the vehicle. I sat back away from the window, not wanting to be caught watching my neighbour but a blush crossed my olive skin as i felt it may have been too late.
She was beautiful. Long red hair falling over her slender shoulders, bright green eyes looking out from under dark lashes. My eyes widened when she moved away from the window, yearning to see her again. Well, I'll have to pay a visit to my new neighbours in the morning.
