Aaron

"Well, Amberlyn- that's actually a really pretty name- can you tell me what's wrong? Because watching you curl up in a ball and start to cry behind a bunch of bushes makes me think you're not." Emily says. I sniffle.

"I'm fine, trust me." I say as she helps me up and I wipe any remaining tears away. She's probably a little bit shorter than me, and you can tell right away that her body frame was delicate.

"Hey, do you wanna come to the orphanage with me? I can show you my room! My roommate- her name was Bella- she moved out last week so I'm pretty lonely."

Did she just say... orphanage? She looks at me with these big puppy eyes... and I give in.

"Well... alright I guess. How old are you anyway?" I ask as we start to walk down the alley through the opposite way.

"I'm thirteen, what about you?" I look at her. She does not look thirteen.

"Uh... I'm thirteen too, actually."

"Oh cool! Now we can relate to a lot more things! I think.." She says quietly. You can tell in an instant that she is a bit shy. "So... will your parents be mad at you if I show you around the orphanage for a bit?"

I just shake my head no and look down.

"Hmm... well, okay. It's this way." She starts to lead me back to the way I ran into the alley, and I suddenly stop.

Finally, I said to her, "H-hey! C-can we go this way?" I point to the other side.

"Well it's actually a much shorter way if we go this way. Its actually a few blocks away if we g-"

I start to panic as I heard yelling and footsteps coming toward where we were. "...actually let's go this way! I think... I... uhm... saw something there! Yeah!" I grab her wrist and quickly tug her to the other end.

As soon as I think we're out of the clear, I hear somone say my name from behind me.

"Aaron!"

Shit.

Emily looks like she's about to say something but I shush her and start running out in front of the block.

I quickly come across a large trash can and dive in before anyone can see me.

I close the top cover and pray to good God that whoever it is, either Joe, Caspar, or my dad, doesn't find me.
I hold my breath and wait for the running footsteps to pass the trash can, but they never do.

I slowly, carefully open the lid just a bit to let some light in. And hopefully, some of the smell out.

There seems to be no one except for a street cat and a old lady walking a baby. I must've been in here a bit longer than I thought.

I climb out of the trash can and see that I had ripped my white shirt.

I'm not even sure how.

I carefully take it off, so I was now in black soccer shorts and a black sports bra. How classy.

But, honestly, I think my ootd is the last thing I need to worry about.

Out of the corner of my eye, I see the old lady take a glance at me, and casually go into a cooking appliance shop.

I look around a bit more when I realize Emily is gone and sighed.

I can't do this forever.

I begin to slowly drag my legs toward the orphanage. It was my only choice.

After about three minutes of walking, I hear yelli g coming from behind me and I break into a sprint without even looking back.
