Apparently, sleuthing is postponed until some other time that doesn't interfere with school hours. I realize that only when we begin to approach the window I used as my escape. A smirk appears on Lishung's face as soon as he spots my expression.

"Well, you didn't think that we'd just ditch for the entire day now, did you?" He snickers before continuing to say, "I mean, you did see what happened to that guy at the main entrance...just for showing up late. What do you think they'd do to us?" He winks at me then stares at Rowan knowingly.

Wait...

For a second, I find their telepathic conversations suspicious, then it hits me. Earlier when I mentioned that guy at the front doors, he acted as if no one was there,  like I was losing my mind. Something is not right here.

"You're lying," I whisper staring past them, unblinking.

"What?" Lishung asks raising an eyebrow.

You're lying," I speak up and now I look directly in his path, in his eyes. "All of you. There is something going on here, and all of you are hiding it."

"Fine, we-" Rowan shoots her a glare and he is silenced immediately. And with that, the bell goes off right above our heads forcing us to cover our ears. Once the ringing has died down, she clears her throat and we all face her.

"We'll take it through the window, you boys take the vents," she orders, changing the topic almost instantly.

"But what about what you were-" I whip around remembering that Lishung was going to say something. But he's gone. He vanished along with Pablo, just like that.

"Come on, our next class is in approximately," she looks at her watch then swears beneath her breath, "one minute."

She looks at me, "Make it to class before me and we'll tell you anything you wanna know." She looks at her watch again then shoots me a look. "Fifty-three seconds and counting, Athena."

She hops through the window immediately and without a thought, I'm right on her tail. We bolt through the bathroom door to be greeted by an already hectic hallway. Rowan forces her way through the crowd leaving me to be trampled by the hundreds of students.

Come on...think.

"We'll take it through the window, you boys take the vents."

That's it.

I recall what Rowan had said not too long ago. The vents. I rush back into the bathroom and climb on top of the counter. Digging up all the upper body strength I can find, I pull against the shaft and throw it aside. As if on cue, I remember the paper Pandora had given me this morning that I had absent-mindedly shoved in my back pocket containing the information about all my classes for today. I lock in my next class, replace the paper and grab on to two of the edges with either hand and pull myself up as swiftly as I can. The silvery metallic vent is a bit roomy as if it was built to accommodate my petite stature.

My next class is three rooms away from the main entrance, on the left, which in my case would be two rooms, excluding the bathroom. I huddle through the vent, passing one shaft and speed up with that extra motivation. I see another shaft beaming with light from inside the room. I'm right above the shaft and as I rub my hands together, an alarming blare goes off in my eardrums. Oh..no. I heave at the shaft and it finally gives in. Placing it beside me, I look down at the tiled floor.
