"Dude c'mon! We're late for class!" Chloe said, as she ran through the empty school hallways with her arm linked to mine.

I struggled to catch up with her, but I sighed and continued running until we reached our classroom. Suddenly, when I was about to reach into the door handle, Chloe yanked my arm away. I turned to look at her and gave her a questioning look.

"What's our excuse?" she said.

"Huh?"

"You know, for being late...", Chloe said.

"Oh, right! That...", I said, brainstorming for actual excuses, rather than the famous ones that every student ever has used.

"I know, I know!!", Chloe squealed, "let's say our heels broke!"

I looked down at my shoes and Chloe's, noticing none of us had heels.

"Nah, I don't think that's going to work..", Chloe realized. No kidding, Chlo.

"Ugh, just come in", I said, grabbing her by the arm and pulling open the door.

Instantly, all eyes were on us. My cheeks gained some color due to the attention Chloe and I were getting because of being late. I looked like a tomato. Luckily, Mr.Knight- our lab teacher-, was facing the window, which was away from us, and we managed to tip toe inside the classroom.

I looked to my right, and Chloe was not with me anymore. I searched the room for her or any empty seats. I located her, but lucky me, there weren't any seats around her. My eyes landed on an empty stool, and I walked with determination to it. In the midst of my two-feet journey, the front of my foot comes colliding with the tremendous bump of a book inside a freaking backpack laying in the floor. And I don't really want to go in detail about what happened next. So basically, in a nutshell: my ankle twisted, I fell facedown, everyone turned, everyone laughed, I became a tomato once again, Mr. Knight noticed me, gave me a tardy and made me sit in the back. I stood up, sighed, and bowed my head down, not wanting to look at anyone at this point. Just as I arrived to the seat and took off my backpack, I realized the person that I was gonna be sharing a table with. All year long.

Take a guess.

Yep, it was Nick. Of course, it had to be him.

"Why him?", I whispered in agony to myself.

He was sitting to my opposite, his smirk was just there, like for me to see it, not subtle at all. Gosh, it was like he had that thing implanted on him.

"Save it." I snapped, before he could say any remarks. And just then, my stomach made a grumbling noise. I winced. Oops, guess I should have had breakfast this morning after all.

He's not going to stop teasing me now.

Nick instantly started laughing. "What the heck! What is going on with you?" he said, amidst his laughter. God, his throaty laugh was like music to my ears.

"F-first, you fall! You fall, just...just like that! A-and, and now!", he said, obviously struggling to formulate coherent sentences because of his sudden outburst. The nerve of this guy. God, he is so annoying, and he's so enjoying me being miserable.

But ugh, the way he looked, his eyes squeezed shut, his nose slightly scrunched up, his hand holding his stomach. He looked so cute and handsome.

Wait a minute.

What?

No. I can't possibly. No freaking way.

What?
