I sat on the steps in the front of my community college, debating on whether or not I should take him up on this offer. My mind raced as I thought and thought about the 'What ifs', something I always seemed to do. But then I would think about how we were struggling, barely making it and I needed to do this. For myself, but most importantly my Mama. We needed the money and this right here seemed to be the only way.

"Aye, yo name Nique?" A deep voice asked, startling me. I looked behind me and saw a cute lightskin guy, about 5'7, a couple of tats, a beard and long black dreads. He looked kind of foreign, like he was mixed or something and he didn't look like a thug either. Nodding my head, I stood up.

"Yea, wassup? You must be KJ, the guy that Polo sent." I said, extending my hand. He nodded and looked at me then at my hand, shaking his head.

"Man ion know bout this shit." He mumbled, beginning to walk away. I furrowed my eyebrows.

"Whoa wait!" I yelled after him. KJ
stopped and turned around. "Whatchu mean? I need this bruh. Ieen janky or nun of that. I'll admit I haven't did this shit before but ieen working with nobody, honestly." I said, holding my hands up. He looked me up and down then grabbed my hand, dragging me somewhere. I quickly caught my balance and snatched my hand from him.

"Yo whatchu doing? Come the fuck on." He huffed, turning around. I looked at all the other people walking the thuggish streets of Baton Rouge. No one was paying attention to us, just like every other day. I mugged him.

"Where we going?"

"Jus come on, ieen got time to be fuckin' around. Time is money and when you waste time dat mean you wasting my money and dont nobody fuck with my money. So if ya really tryna do this I suggest you bring yo ass on or hop yo happy go lucky ass back up to ya lah' school." He said irritated. I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms.

"Fine. Yeen have to grab me tho." I mumbled, following him to a car. I got in and shut the door.

Normally, I would've ran for my life but to me if he really wanted to hurt me he would've been did it so I knew that wasn't his intention. Hopefully he'd take me to show me what I gotta do and send me on my damn way. Lord knows I didn't need anymore trouble in my life but what I didn't realize was with this life, came trouble. Plenty of it.

"You got it ma?" Polo said, tossin me a duffle full of drugs and money. I nodded.

"Aye, imma put this in the unmarked car cause I gotta make a few stops, I'a be back in time tho."

"Iight, go handle dat." He said smacking me on my ass. I bucked at him.

"Chill out wit that shit." I mumbled, walking out the trap.

It was now late October and Winter was just around the corner so it was colder than usual. I tied up my tan trench coat and speed walked to my all black 2015 Chrysler 200. When I finally made it, I instantly turned on the heat.

"Damn, it's cold as hell." I mumbled to myself, letting my car heat up. Once it was warm enough, I drove towards my house.

Ever since I'd gotten in the game, money wasn't even an issue for me and my Mama. As soon as I got enough, we moved out of that old ass, roach infested apartment and into a lil nice two bedroom house. It wasn't much because it was just the two of us but it was comfy and felt like a regular home.

I had always been the one to try to make ends meet. My Mama had a stroke while at work a couple years back and things went downhill from there. She couldn't work anymore so that meant I had to find a job. I got a job at this clothing store but it wasn't much. We were still barely making it and the checks Mama used to get stopped coming in so we'd lost our house.
