Carter's POV*
It's been two weeks since I cut my foot and two weeks since Niall asked me out. Both things have been going exceptionally well.
First, I got my stitches out last week at the same hospital I received them from. It didn't hurt as much as I expected it to. I felt more like a puppet being pulled by its strings.
Second, my mother. I called her after I received my stitches two weeks ago and had to explain everything to her. It took a lot of convincing and help from Gabbie to keep her from coming to get me, but she finally gave in. We ended our phone call with an 'I love you' and 'be safe' and that was that.
Third is Niall. Everything with him has gone perfectly well. His attitude is completely gone around me and mostly gone around Zayn and Gabbie. He will have that normal twinge of sarcasm in his voice once in awhile but that's about it. He's helping out around the campsite a lot more now too. He's very romantic when he wants to be and I can tell how much he cares for me. I don't want anything to change.
Gabbie and Zayn pulled me into their cabin the other day and praised me on my work with Niall and how much he has changed. There's only one more month left here 'fixing' him but I honestly want more time. Not to fix him but to be with him. I can only hope and pray Niall doesn't find out about our little plan we formed to fix him.
Niall's POV*
I walked towards Carter's cabin with the blanket and picnic basket I packed underneath my arm.
I honestly am having the time of my life with her this summer. It's like whenever I'm with her all my worries fade away.
I approached her screen door and didn't even bother knocking. I opened the door and walked straight in, setting the blanket and basket down on Gabbie vacant bed. Carter was sitting on the floor in front of the window, journal and pen in hand. She smiled up at me when she saw me and immediately flew to her feet, prancing over to me to plant a kiss on my lips.
"What's this?" She asked looking at the picnic basket and blanket.
"I'm taking you on an adventure. Come on." I smiled at her, grasping her hand tightly in mine.
"It's almost one in the morning." She giggled, pressing her hands to my chest with a small smile plastered on her adorable face.
"All the more fun." I smiled back at her and kissed her neck lightly.
She gently pushed me away and smiled at me. She tied her hair up in a neat bun and slid on a pair of flip flops. She was wearing a pair of shorts and a long sleeve navy shirt with the sleeves rolled up. Perfect choice for this cool night.
I entwined our fingers and picked the basket and blanket up, pulling her a long behind me.
"Where are we going?" Carter giggled from behind me. I let out a breathy laugh at her curiosity.
"Just wait." I replied, leading her up a hill on the far end of the campsite.
"Stay there. Okay now turn around and face away from me." Carter did as i instructed.
I got to the top of the hill and spread the blanket down on the grass. I opened up the basket and lit the three candles I had packed. I then unpacked two beers, the same ones we drank while we actually talked that first night by the bonfire, and set them down on the quilt. I walked up behind Carter and wrapped my arms around her waist, lightly kissing her cheek.
"Okay you can turn around." I released my grip on her and replaced it with my hand in hers. Her mouth formed an 'o' shape as she stood obviously surprised at my romantic gesture.
"Niall-"
"Don't speak, come on." I pulled her behind me and we both sat down on the blanket.
The view from the hill was perfect. I found it the other day when I thought of this idea and went out searching for the perfect spot. The campsite was pretty isolated by this hill. On the other side of the hill where we were facing was the city of Virginia. The lights at night were insanely beautiful. Almost as beautiful as my date to this view.
"This is insanely pretty." Carter said, breathless at the view.
"I'm so lucky to look at the two most beautiful things in the world right here." I replied. Carter blushed under my words and I planted a small kiss on her forehead.
"Lay back." I instructed and she followed my directions. We both laid down on our backs and stared up at the night sky full of bright stars.
So we sat there, finding constellations and drinking our famous friendship beer together. And I swear in this moment, I was invincible.
