Chapter 17

August 2011

Carter's POV*

The next morning I woke up in Niall's arms on top of the hill. His jacket was draped over the both of us and he held me close to his chest to keep me warm.

After we stargazed, drank and talked last night, we both fell asleep in each other's arms on the hill. It was the perfect night with the perfect guy.

I let out a soft yawn and wiggled in Niall's grasp.

"Mmm don't leave love." He half whispered in a raspy voice. I smirked and rolled over so I was facing him, his arms still tightly grasping me. I placed a soft kiss on the tip of his nose causing his eyes to flutter open.

"How did I get so lucky to wake up to such a beautiful sight." Niall smirked at me as his sweet words filled my ears causing butterflies to erupt in my stomach.

"Just the luck of the Irish I guess." I joked. He let out a chuckle and yawned then placed a sweet kiss on my lips.

We both stood up and began packing up the picnic basket and blanket. We had no idea what time it was but it was early enough that the sun was just starting to rise. Niall began walking down the hill towards the cabins.

"Wait, can we stay for a few more minutes? Just to watch the sun rise?" I asked.

Niall smiled and placed the picnic basket and blanket down at his feet. I extended my hand towards him which he gladly took and we sat down on the hill and watched the pink sunrise together.

It was peaceful.

Niall's POV*

After we watched the sunrise, we went to the mess hall and ate some breakfast, then I decided to go back to my cabin to shower and I'm assuming Carter did the same.

I walked into the cabin and placed the items I had brought for my night with Carter on my empty bed. Zayn was sitting on his bed and perked his head up from the book he was reading.

"Where were you last night? You weren't in your bed." Zayn asked, shutting his book.

"I took Carter out and we watched the stats. Where's Gabbie?" I asked noticing that Zayn's girlfriend was nowhere to be seen.

"She went to get some food. I honestly needed a little bit of a break from her anyway. We've been together non stop these past few weeks. It's kind of suffocating." Zayn confessed and I couldn't help but laugh.

I had warned him about Gabbie since day one, literally. I mean what else did he expect. They met at one of our meet and greets. She literally followed him around until he talked to her. He shouldn't expect anything less then suffocating.

"I'm assuming Gabbie is just going to be bunking in your bed for the rest of this time considering she hasn't been in her own cabin since the first day we got here." I added causing Zayn to nod.

"I guess so. Well how are you and Carter?" Zayn asked, changing the subject.

I had told him a few days after I asked Carter out about everything. He was very excited for me and happy for my new found relationship.

"She's really good. Amazing actually. It's like I can't get enough of her. Just being around her puts me in a good mood." I explained unable to hide the smile that crept onto my face at the thought of my girlfriend.

"That's good, I'm glad. Have you noticed how good you are now? You haven't had an outbreak since the clothes incident. Carter seems to have completely flipped you. I think Simon would be happy to hear that and take us back home now." Zayn replied.

"No! I mean yes, Carter has changed me for the better but I don't want to leave. I would have to leave Carter. I want to finish my time here. It's only another month. I need to stay and see this through." I said. Zayn smiled and nodded his head in approval.

"That's the Niall I know. I'm glad you're thinking that way. Keep up the good work mate." Zayn got up to leave but stopped at the door and turned back to look at me.

"Oh yeah, Harry called today. The boys want to see you. They're coming down in a few days to check everything out." Zayn added.

Good, I miss the boys. I guess now is a better time then ever to introduce them to Carter. I just really hope they like her as much as I do. Because I really really like Carter.
