We were all called above decks as the pirates boarded. It looked as if the men's prayer's had not been heard, because this was not turning out to be a safe journey. Captain Everly stood in front, and I stood just behind him. The pirates came aboard, but upon closer inspection, I could tell they were not pirates. Since the Captain never had soldiers on his ship, it made sense that neither he nor his men would recognize them. I opened my mouth to give a warning call, but before I could open my mouth they attacked. Captain Everly went down last. He was the bravest man I have ever known. I watched the fire leave my old friend's eyes. I was left untouched, as the soldiers had obviously been ordered to do. The soldier's captain strode up to me, proud as a peacock. I was unarmed, uninjured. He thrust his sword, and my knees buckled. I managed to fit one more word around the sword impaling my lung. "Edward." I whispered. "James." He said. His voice was emotionless, but the last thing I saw was the slightest hint of regret in my brother's eyes.
