"You're leaving," She whispered. Her question sounded more like a statement. "But it's Christmas," she responded, almost begging, and in a way, she was. She was begging for him to pick her. Pleading for him to see her as she saw him. Begging for him to stay.
"I know, and I wish I didn't have to, but I have to leave."
"So, you are really leaving?" She tried one more time, hoping he would understand.
"Yes, I am."

"Oh," Marinette whispered. She felt absolutely lost. Part of her expected Adrien to at least hold her and promise her to come back, but it seems like while he said he wished he didn't have to leave, the reality was something different. Kagami was probably waiting for him. Marinette felt dumb. Here she was thinking that maybe, just maybe, Adrien would have confessed to her this Christmas, but of course, he would leave her. He always did.
"Mari-" Adrien began, but was interrupted.
"It's ok, Adrien. I get it. You are probably ready to get back to your life, and I-" It was now the blonde's turn to interrupt. He was not sure what she was going to say, but for some reason, the "and I" part got to him.
"And you what?" He questioned, feeling upset.
"You are tired of me? You want me gone? Is that it?" He added. He was not sure why he had said it, but he couldn't control himself. It was as if he were about to lose her before he even had her.
"What? No!" Marinette answered defensively.
"Then what is it? Do you really think I want to leave? You think I want to get back to my life? What life? The life where I am all alone, forced to be a model, and away from the person I love?"
Marinette gasped. Adrien loved someone? Was he speaking of Kagami? But she did not speak, she couldn't, as Adrien continued his ranting.
"No, Marinette! I want to be here. I want to spend Christmas with you, but my father needs me." Adrien pulled his hair in frustration. What was happening to him? Why couldn't he shut up? He wanted to confess, but not now, not like this! He was not going to confess only to leave her after. Marinette deserved better. She deserved everything. He wanted to be with her. Always. The moment had to be special.
"Adrien, I-"
"No, Marinette. I promise, I promise that if I didn't absolutely have to leave, I would not. I actually have so much to speak to you about. So much that I want to say and do. You mean so much to me."
Marinette sat completely frozen. She did not know what to feel. Adrien had just confessed to caring about her and not wanting to leave her. What did that mean? The bluenette did not know what to say.
"Princess, say something. Please, don't be upset," Adrien whispered, reaching to wipe a tear from Marinette's cheek.
Marinette gasped silently as she felt his touch. Sha didn't even realize that she had been crying. She had been so lost in his words that she had completely lost control of her emotions. But she couldn't just sit there in silence; she had to say something.
"Adrien, you mean so much to me, too. I don't want you to leave," she whispered. Her voice could barely be heard, yet Adrien had heard them to perfection. Every letter, every sound, every nervous tremble, he heard it all, and it was the most beautiful whisper he had ever heard.
