Chapter 4: Lunch-
I walked casually over to the lunch line and grabbed a tray with spaghetti and a bright red, shiny apple. Paying with a five dollar bill I waited for the lunch lady to get my change. While I waited I looked up and saw Viviana sitting down at the biggest table in the lunch room, completely crowded with her followers. They looked straight into my eyes. I must have looked frightened because they all started laughing as if it were the funniest thing in the world. I didn't understand why really. But they turned back to their little gossip group, giggling and enjoying themselves.
Walking down the center aisle I had to pass their table. I was daydreaming in my own though bubble when, BAM! I was flat on my stomach, my tray in my face. Spaghetti covering my face and shirt. It was disgusting. I slowly raised myself up, embarrassed. Terribly embarrassed. Everybody was staring at me. Some laughing so hard they had tears streaming down their faces. As did I, but not of laughter. I was crying. I ran out of the lunchroom straight the bathroom. Tears blocking my sight of vision.
I burst open the door and ran to the mirror, looking at my body covered in spaghetti. Grabbing a handful of paper towels, I soaked them in water. I scrubbed my face partially clean, some smudges here and there, but for the most part, clean. Next I attempted to clean my shirt. That took some time, yet it still wasn't fully clean. You could still tell where the stains had been. I took the time to try and fix my hair and freshen up my makeup. Finally ready to step out in the hall again, I checked my watch. Five minutes till lunch gets out officially, I should just go to my next class, I told myself. Rushing down the hall, I approached my locker. Turning in the combination quickly, I yanked open the door and snagged my backpack. It about nearly ripped my arm off from the weight. I rushed to my next class before the bell rang.
I sat in the back of the class, praying not to get noticed, but I knew I just jinxed myself. Every person who walked in snickered at me as they walked in. I just looked down at my notes, hiding the years of tears and anger inside of me. Class was a major distraction the rest if the day. My classmates kept looking back at me, making faces and laughing. I still hid all my feelings, trying not to let them know it was hurting me inside so much.
Happiness sort of grew through me all through my veins when the final bell rang. I walked out the door feeling relieved and ready to go to work to make money. I hopped in my pickup truck and sped off as fast as I could possibly go towards the library.
