"Are you sure you're up for this?" Declan looks at Niall, who frankly looks sick to his stomach but he nods. "Do we really need him?""How many times have we had this conversation?" Niall snaps at his brother.
They were going to find their father today, Niall had attempted to talk me out of going too but there was no stopping me. If anything we needed him to understand why we needed his help.
Niall rubs his hand through his wet hair and pulls a black snap back down over it roughly "is there anything that will make you stay here?"
"I have a feeling you'll need more than you think," I say with a small smirk and he swallows hard. I can feel his nervousness flowing over his body to the ground below. He barely slept the night before rolling over in bed about a thousand times. Eventually he disappeared, separating the sheets from his naked body and leaving the room all together. I let him go without fight. He needed a run. He needed to focus.
"Well let's go then," Loran says from the archway. Loran had been ignoring me for the past days and it wasn't going to end soon by the tone in his voice.
The only reason he was going was because Niall had asked him to come incase a fight breaks out. That is if he's even there, declan sore he had left the old cabin in years. But Declan was known to lie. Declan breathes deeply and fixes the leather jacket over his large shoulders.
We all file out of the house but before I walk out the door, a hand catches my elbow. "Be careful." Louis warns and I sigh, "I mean it. Their father isn't the nicest man you'll ever meet."
"I could say that for most of the men in my life right now." He looks to the floor with my remark. "Keep an eye on Carter while Alex is at school please. He's the priority."
"No, he's not." he mumbles at me but nods in agreement. "Please be careful."
"Yes boss," I say closing the door behind me. Even though there's a door between us I can feel His fear seeping though the wood. It's a wild fear, full of rage and confusion but he was strong. So was I and we could do this.
We had dragged styles from the basement and locked him into the back of the car. His condition only worsened over the days. Ansel was almost positive that he was human. That news had sunk most of them into a strange hole of darkness. None of them would even look at him, let alone ask questions.
We were only taking him incase their father didn't believe us. Which was a solid possibility. Niall and Loran take their bikes which leaves me driving with Declan. It still made me uneasy.
Even though I was stronger than before Declan was still larger than me in every way. I climb into the drivers seat and start the engine to Lou's truck with a low rumble. I can feel him staring at us from the window and I look over at him. Breathe. I got this.
"You shouldn't lie to people," Declan says as we leave the driveway and he points left. The loud rumble of bikes ahead and behind us is a calming sound today but still I shake.
"You shouldn't kill people," I snap turning the radio up.
He laughs under his breath as he turns to check the pulse of the corpse in the back seat.
"I'm serious," he says "it just makes him more uneasy when you don't tell him the truth."
"Cause you have so much good advice for me right?" I say and he points for me to turn right down a smaller gravel road.
"I know what lying does to a person," he explains looking at me. "And does to the people around them."
"I'm not lying to anyone."
