The two ran through the forest, the blonde boy chasing after the silver haired girl.

"Wait!" The boy yelled, "What do you mean?!" He calls after her, the girl not faltering in her pace at all, knowing that someone watched them from the forest. The boy started to slow down, breathing heavily as the girl stops and turns back before running to him to pull him along.

"Get up. We're being watched," She growls at the boy but it was too late, the creature watching them sprung to attack as the girl immediately turned to the sound and drew her daggers to attack. The boy watched in shock as the girl fought the slime-like creature, slowly depleting it's health until it disappeared and left a small pouch and bottle. "It feels good to be able to fight to kill," The girl says happily, picking up the items and adding them to her pouch with a grin.

"How... How can you fight those things when your life is on the line?!" The boy asks in shock, starting to shake. "How can you completely disregard your own safety?!" He yells as the girl chuckles.

"It's easy when you have nothing to live for. Oh, and you were wondering what I meant earlier, right?" She asks with a smirk as he nods. "After playing this game for a month, your mind gets stuck here and your body dies. It's a special feature of this game that I added a few weeks ago. I made my own program and added it to the game so I could leave my life but remain alive." She explains with a chuckle.

"Why? Why trap everyone here when they've done nothing to you?" The boy asks softly as the girl starts to giggle.

"Because I didn't want to be alone," She replies, a dark undertone to her voice.

I'm sorry for having the chapters be so short. They'll probably stay this short until school is over though.
