When a slow song finally came on, Isis and I sauntered up to the bar laughing the entire time.
“Two cabernets” I shouted to the bartender as I waved a twenty in the air. He got right on it grabbing my twenty and preparing two wine glasses.
“Cabernet huh?” Isis whispered curiously.
“Feel like testing out some of my chemistry genius tonight?” I asked devilishly.
“You figured it out!” she shrieked.
I laughed, “I think I have”. Remember when I said that just alcohol itself wouldn’t intoxicate us, that we had to drink the blood of a human who has been drinking. Well I figured out a mixture of blood and some elements that will fuse together with an alcoholic beverage, allowing us to enjoy the effects. I’m a chemist remember? So when the bartender handed us our wine I pulled a vial out of my clutch, checked to be sure it was the right one, and poured some into my glass and some into Isis’s.
“Cheers” we said in unison and clinked our glasses together. I took a giant gulp and let the flavors burst in my mouth.
“Oh that is good” Isis said.
“So where’s Eric?” I questioned.
“In a daze on a couch somewhere” she shrugged.
“That didn’t sound too enthusiastic” I noted.
“Yeah” she sighed, “I slipped him the vial tonight.”
“Really?” I gasped, “I thought you really liked him.”
“So did I” she said hopelessly, “I just get too bored too easily.”
“Ehh it’s alright” I said waving my hand, “Forget about him.”
We sat in silence for a little while polishing off our wine. By the time I set it down the bartender had another in front of me. I sent another twenty in his direction and slipped more of the vial into my drink. I was feeling all warm and fuzzy when the hairs on the back of my neck began to prick up, someone was watching me. I did a brief turn around on my barstool and scanned the room. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, but I never normally get chills without reason. Naturally I turned up my guard.
“Earth to Charlotte” Isis chimed, waving her hand in front of me.
“Sorry” I shook it off, “Just got a chill.”
“Really?” she questioned, immediately her eyes scanned the room. “Bingo.”
“Where?” I gasped, turning my head around.
“Right there” she gestured to a nearby corner.
“Well I’ll be damned” I mumbled.
“Yep” Isis said then lowered her voice, “Vampire.”
The vampire who now held mine and Isis’s attention leaned up against the wall in the outskirts of the room, and he was unarguably gorgeous. His attire was simple, just a pair of dark blue jeans and a red t-shirt with a black leather jacket draped over his arm. His muscles were defined and his skin tone held a pearly radiance. His hair was dark brown and shaggy, just grazing above his eyelashes. His lips were pressed in a straight line which slowly turned into a smirk as I traveled up to his eyes, his beautiful, deep emerald eyes. He knew we were watching.
