Chapter 12

New P.O.V.

I walked down to Master Adair’s office, wishing to share with him the events I have witnessed. I’m not 100% sure of what it was but either way the master needed to know. When I approached the door I tapped lightly and heard a muffled “come in” from behind the door. I entered and saw Master Adair staring out the window at the night sky.

“Master” I greeted him, with a bow.

“Good evening my child” he nodded, “What brings you to my study this evening?”

“It’s Alexander Master” I began, “He’s been a little odd since he’s returned and I noticed something a little odd.”

“Go on” he urged me.

“Well” I took a deep breath, “it’s just that normally he polishes off his meal but tonight he left her alive.”

“Perhaps on his journey he acquired compassion for humans” he sneered.

“Well, see here’s the thing,” I pressed on “When the woman he fed on came to she had no clue who he was, there was no trace of the bond.”

I noted that Adair’s eyes widened during my statement but quickly readjusted themselves after a moment. His face was stoic, eyes hard and lips pressed into a thin line. He was obviously deep in thought. “Very well” he spoke up, “Investigate, find out where he has been and anyone he became acquainted with.”

“Yes master” I nodded my head.

“Oh and take Raphael with you” he added, “He seems to know our Alexander well.”

“Yes sir,” I said as I bowed. I exited the room and began searching the halls for Raphael, eager to get started. Since Alex has returned he has been acting differently. He’s more upbeat than his usual self, engaging in conversation and actually smiling and laughing. It was odd, I’d never seen him like that. He must have really enjoyed his time away. Perhaps he met someone. I’d have to ask Raphael when I find him, after all Adair did say to find anyone who he came into contact with. As I rounded the corner I saw Alex and Raphael making their way down the hall.

“Raphael” I called out. He looked in my direction and I gestured for him to come my way. Unfortunately Alex followed him so I was going to have to go about this in a roundabout way.

“Yes?” he said as he approached me.

“Adair needs you and me to go on a mission, stat” I kept it short, I could fill in the details on our way.

“Right now” he whined, “What for.”

“No time” I gave him a hard look, “I’ll explain in the car.”

“Fine” he sighed and turned his attention to Alex, “I guess we’ll talk more when I get back.”

“Sounds good man” Alex shrugged, “have fun.”

I grabbed Raphael’s hand and began dragging him down the hallway. Once in the driveway we hopped into my Ferrari and headed out.

“So what do you know about Alex’s little journey?”
