I'd like to start off this chapter by saying thank you to all of my readers. Everytime I see that the number of reads I have goes up it makes me smile and gives me that push to get out the next chapter :) So to all of my readers I can't thank you enough.

Secondly I would like to dedicate this chapter to my darling who provided me with the inspiration for this chapter. Thank you for reminding me why I do what I do and for lying in bed with me all morning playing Angry Birds, you inspire me more than you know.

Okay enough rambling, enjoy guys!!!

----------------

A loud ringing noise awoke me from my slumber. I pulled the blanket over my head and snuggled into the person beside me trying to drown out the noise. Wait person!?! I opened my eyes and looked at the sleeping figure lying next to me. Oh Alex, that’s right. I thought back to last night; the way he looked at me, how he held me, how incredibly sensual his lips were against mine. I haven’t felt that in… well ever. He looked peaceful as he slept, but there was a really annoying noise coming from somewhere on his body.

“Alex” I sang but no response. “Alex” I said a little louder but still nothing. I grabbed a pillow from behind me and prepared to swing. “Last chance Alex” I chimed. With no response I started beating him with the pillow.

“What, wait, huh” he gasped as he shot up in bed, I began laughing hysterically. “Not funny” he pouted.

“Yes (laughter) it (more laughter) was (even more laughter)” I struggled to control my laughter. He plopped back down on to the pillow and pulled me over so I was lying on top of him.

“Stop laughing so I can kiss you” he sighed. Almost immediately I shut up and his lips found mine. The kiss was slow and soft but it still sent tingles all over my body. When we pulled apart Alex was the first to speak up, “So what was so urgent that you needed to wake me up by attacking me with a pillow?”

“Oh” I giggled, “There was some weird ringing noise coming from somewhere on you.”

He looked at me curiously then a look of realization dawned on his face. He reached down into his jeans pocket and pulled out this odd, little, black box. At his touch, the box lit up and he began dragging his finger across it. I studied the black object and tried to remember where I’ve seen one like it before.

“Is that one of those cell phones?” I asked.

He shifted his attention to me and raised an eyebrow, “Yeah, don’t you have one?”

“Nope” I said popping the p.

“Why on earth not?” he said, apparently unable to comprehend why someone wouldn’t have one.

“I have no need for it” I shrugged, “The only person I’d really ever need to get a hold of is Isis and we’re never separated for longer than a few days.”

“Wow” was all he managed to get out. After tapping the screen a few more times he held the device up to his ear, “Raphael talk to me” Alex chirped and began to delve into a conversation with whoever was on the other line. I chose to ignore the conversation and snuggled back into the blankets. I started to drift back to sleep when I was shaken back awake.

“What?” I groaned and turned to look at Alex, he had a sad expression on his face. “What’s wrong?” I asked switching my tone from annoyed to concerned.

“Nothing big really” he sighed, “They just need me back up at the clan house for something.”

“Well that sucks” I mused, “That’s why I don’t belong to a clan, no one has control over me”. It was true too, I don’t listen well to others, I prefer to run my own life. Since Isis and I didn’t belong to a clan life was extremely simple. Sure there were vampires that kept an eye on us but as long as we didn’t act out f the ordinary then nobody interfered. We ran our own life, we could come and go as we pleased without worrying about being summoned back. Freedom was what we had.

“Don’t you think though that if you belonged to a clan you’d be like one of the top dogs?” Alex wondered, “I mean you are like ancient.”

“Jerk” I muttered and hit him with my pillow, “let me see that phone thingy.” He didn’t protest and handed it over to me. “How do you work it?” I asked.

“Well you see you press this little circle button at the bottom” he instructed and I followed his directions, “Then you see how it says ‘slide to unlock’” I nodded my head, “drag your finger across it and it will take you to the main screen.” It took me a few very frustrating tries (I attempted to throw it across the room but Alex had super fast reflexes so he caught it before it could crash into anything), eventually I got to the screen though. He showed me how you can make a call, or send this electronic letter called a text message, and then he showed me games. “What’s this one?” I asked as I tapped the icon that displayed a little, red bird looking thing.

“This is Angry Birds” he said excitedly, “Basically you use a slingshot to launch birds so you can knock down a tower of blocks!”

“Poor little birds” I sighed, “that seems so cruel.”

“They’re not real birds Char” he pointed out, “let me show you, it’s really fun.” He demonstrated how to play the game then handed the phone back to me, “You try.”

I took it and mimicked what he did. “I knocked it down!” I giggled, this was fun. I leaned back against the headboard and submerged myself into the world of Angry Birds.

“Sooo” Alex spoke up, “I’m gonna go get ready.”

“Uh huh” I mumbled, not taking my eyes off the screen.

“I’ll just leave you to your game” he chuckled.

“Sounds good” I replied waving him off, I was going for a high score. He just shook his head and gave me a peck on the cheek before leaving the room.

I’m not sure how much time passed between when he left my room and when he returned, all I was sure of was that Angry Birds was ridiculously addicting.

“You’re still playing that game?” he laughed as he entered the room.

“Yep” I stated matter of factly, “I beat your high scores.” He just shook his head and walked over to my side of the bed, his palm was held out.

“I don’t wanna stop playing” I whined.

“As much as I’d love to lie around playing Angry Birds with you” he began, “I really need to get going, my clan needs me.” I gave him my best pouty face but I knew it wasn’t enough. He had things to do, places to go. Defeated, I placed the phone into his palm and let out a big sigh. “Thank you” he chimed.

“Do you need a ride back into town?” I asked my mind slipping back into the real world. Now I was saddened, Alex was leaving. This is why I didn’t want to get attached, I knew he would have to leave eventually.

“I’m a pretty fast runner actually” he boasted, “It’ll take less time if I just sprint.”

“Okay” I sighed, “I guess I’ll walk you out.” We walked out of my room and down to the grand entry way. When we approached the door Alex spun around to face me. His lips held a smile but his eyes seemed a little dull, sad even.

“Thanks for everything” he said, “I’ll come visit soon.”

“You better” I teased, trying to hide the sadness that I was feeling.

“I promise” he smiled and held his arms open for a hug. I closed the space and just let myself for the moment remember what this felt like. I looked up at him and his lips came crashing down on mine. The kiss was intense, hungry almost, like we didn’t know how long it would be until we could do this again so our lips were locked aggressively, trying to get as much in as possible. We were both gasping for air when we pulled apart. “Goodbye Alex” I whispered.

“I’ll see you soon” he assured me. I watched as he walked out of the house until he turned into a blur as he sprinted into the woods.
