I awoke some odd hours later feeling really refreshed yet slightly parched. I rolled over in my bed and looked at the clock on the nightstand displaying to me that it was currently 2 o’clock in the afternoon. Reluctantly I crawled out of bed and stumbled into my bathroom. The reflection I was met with in the mirror could only be described as a complete mess. The hair that wasn’t stuck to my face was sticking out in all different directions. All the mascara and eyeliner that I applied last night was now smudged around my eyes making me look like a raccoon. “Well that’s attractive” I muttered to myself as I moved over to the shower to start the water. I began stripping my garments and then carefully undid the clasp of my necklace and laid it upon the counter. The water felt incredible as I stepped into the shower. I took my time to clean up, not wanting to ever step out of the warm water.

When I finally got out of the shower, I quickly dried off then slipped into my fluffy, white robe. Feeling a little more energized I danced my way out of the bathroom and back into my bedroom. I didn’t spend a long time in the closet, just grabbing a pair of jeans and a black tank top. I didn’t even bother drying my hair and just put it into a fishtail braid and pulled it to the side.

Still in my bubbly mood I skipped down the hallway and made my way to the kitchen. I stuck my head into the fridge and grabbed a bottle of blood. When I shut the fridge a tall figure stood before me.

“Cheese and rice Alex” I shrieked, “you scared me.”

“Sorry, forget I was here?” he smirked.

“I did actually” I admitted, “sleep well?”

“Very” he chirped, “Mind if I take a drink of that, my throats a little dry.”

“Knock yourself out” I said as I handed him the bottle. We sat in silence for a while passing the bottle back and forth. It wasn’t an awkward silence, it was actually kind of nice since I’m used to Isis’s almost constant chatter. I loved her to death but my oh my could she talk your ear off.

“Well’ I said as I finished off the blood, “I’m gonna head to my office for a few, make yourself at home.” We stood up at the same time and made our way to the door, coming face to face. Rather close I might add. He was looking down at me with a sort of sparkle in his eyes, that’s the only way I could describe it.

“Why did you ever wear make-up out?” he asked.

“Excuse me?” Well it was an odd question.

“It’s just you look beautiful without it, I don’t know why you would wear it” he murmured.

“Oh” I gasped a little surprised, “Ummm thanks.” I managed to give him a little smile before I slipped out the door. I made a beeline for my office and nestled myself into my desk. If I could blush I’m sure my cheeks would be as red as a cherry. It wasn’t that I hadn’t been called beautiful by a man before. It’s actually occurred a good few handfuls of time over my years. There was something in the way Alex said it though that made me believe it. It could be that he was ridiculously handsome or that his voice was like velvet. Maybe it was his eyes, they were simply mesmerizing. Who was I kidding though. He was just staying as a guest for a few days and then he’ll be off to where ever it is he wants to go. “No reason to get attached” I muttered to myself.

I shook myself out of my thoughts and stood up from my desk. Soon I was submerged in my world of flasks, beakers, and Bunsen burners. Work was the one thing that busied my thoughtful mind.
