Sophia's PoV I woke to the sunlight steaming through the blinds, I must've dropped off, I look down to find Caitlyn fast asleep on my lap. She looked so peaceful.
How am I going to do it? What would Jesse say?
My phone vibrated on the coffee table next to me, I picked it up 5 missed calls from Jesse
"shit"
I thought he was on his way back from a golfing trip with the boys I quickly text him

With that I locked my phone and placed it back on the table, Caitlyn started to stir, she must be so tired I thought.She has traveled all this way, ended up in a strange city, i can't imagine how she is feeling. I started to stroke her soft brown hair, she slowly opened her eyes.
" how was your nap?"
"it was good, but I'm still really tired, can I go to bed please?"
Thank god we had a 3 bedroom apartment I thought, I'll put her in the guest bedroom.
"Come on I'll take you through" I said
I found one of Jesse's t shirts and a pair of shorts and I gave them to her.
"Thank you" she replied
"I hope they will be ok, until we go shopping and get you some clothes"
I left the room, and returned to find Caitlyn already in bed. I walked toward the bed and tucked her in. I was about to turn and walk out of the room when she whispered
"can you stay in here with me please"
"of course I will" I walked around the bed and lay down on top of the duvet next to Caitlyn, I outstretched my hand and clasped hers I instantly felt her relax, within 10 minutes she was fast asleep, I decided to leave her sleep and walked to her side of the bed and kissed her forehead "goodnight " I whispered and walked out.
Jesse's PoV "Bye guys see you soon"
I shouted as the car drove away. I couldn't wait to see her, I didn't realise how much I would miss her in two days. I picked up my clubs and rucksack from the curb, it was already dark, and walked towards the apartment. I walked to the front door and lightly tapped on the wood with my knuckles, the door swung open. And I was met with The worlds biggest smile worn on Sophia.
"Hey, I've missed you" I said as I walked inside
"I've missed you too" she replied
I planted a kiss on her lips and pulled her into a hug she rested her head in the crook of my neck and her hair smelled amazing, I've missed that smell I thought. I released her from my grasp and she laced her fingers with mine and walked to the sofa.
" I told you earlier that I had news" she said
"You're not pregnant? Are you? " I asked concerned
"Not quite" she continued
"look come with me I need to show you something" she said and walked me to the guest bedroom
"go on in" she whispered
I opened the door and found a 15 year old girl lying in the bed I turned with a confused expression
"w h a t is going on"
She led me back to the sofa and said " before you say anything hear me out"
"Okay" I replied
"That girl in the bed is Caitlyn she is 15 years old and has run away from home, she is not from Chicago, she used to live in the UK, I have decided I want to adopt her"
I looked at her stunned I couldn't form the words my jaw hung open
"look I am prepared to adopt her with or without your input I don't want to pressure you into doing this but I feel it is the right thing for me to do"
" I'm prepared to do it all, how are we going to balance work and looking after her?"
