Chapter 11

Jesse's Pov

I stirred to find Sophia's head on my chest, her eyes closed. She looked beautiful, I kissed her hair. Her eyes slowly fluttering open.

"Good Morning" she said her voice raspy as she leant up and kissed me

"morning" I replied returning the kiss.

She turned to me "So today is the big day" her voice laced with nervousness

"It is, Look i'm going to be with you every step of the way" I said reassuringly

"Marina will be here soon. I'll get Caitlyn ready, Can you sort breakfast out?"

"Sure, I'll see you in a minute" brushing her lips with a quick kiss.

Sophia's POV

I gently grasped the door handle and slowly pulled, trying to be as quiet as possible. As expected Caitlyn was fast asleep. I really didn't want to wake her, I quietly tiptoed to the side of the bed she was laying on and I sat on the middle of the bed. Gently stroking her hair, when she awoke not with alarm but with familiarity.

"Did you sleep well" I asked watching her rub her eyes.

"It was okay" she said clearly tired.

"Look today is going to be a bit different" sensing her anxiety I held her hand, circling it with my thumb.  "Jesse and I are going to see a solicitor to find out more about the adoption, and one of my good friends is coming to hang out with you" reassuringly

"Okay that's cool" Caitlyn said, her anxiety had subsided somewhat.

BZZZZZZZZZZ

The buzzer sounded shortly followed by Jesse shouting

"I'LL GET IT"

"why don't you get ready, come on through when you're ready" I said.

I went on through to the kitchen, marina's voice booming

"Hey!" Marina said before reaching out for a hug.

as we broke apart she immediately pulled out a stool "SIT AND SPILL" marina demanded taking no mercy

"okay okay" I said chuckling

"Long story short we are trying to adopt Caitlyn a 15 year old girl" emphasising girl because marina had originally thought Caitlyn was a pet dog.

"omg I am so happy for you both!!!" she practically screamed while pulling Jesse and I into a hug.

caitlyn's pov

I walked into the kitchen to find Sophia,Jesse and someone new. Sophia instantly sensed my anxiety and walked over her hand outstretched. I grasped her hand, and I felt safe.

"Caitlyn, this is Marina she is a really good friend of mine, she's going to hang out with you today"

I was able to muster up a quiet "Hi" before dropping my head.

"hey Caitlyn " Marina said her enthusiasm minimal.

I looked down to find Sophia gently tugging on my hand "come with me" she whispered barely audible.

I followed her to the living room and she gestured towards the sofa, I was puzzled what was she asking of me? Sophia sat down I copied her because that was what she was probably hinting at in the first place.

She turned to me, taking both of my hands into hers.

"Marina is lovely, I promise you will be safe with her." She said her raspy voice comforting me. "And if you need to call me or message me, I'm sure Marina would be happy to let you use her phone"

I nodded my head and welcomed Sophia's outstretched arms into a warm, safe hug. Time stopped, She kissed my hair.

"I'll see you later, don't have too much fun without me" she chuckled.

As if on cue Marina appeared.

"So what would you like to do today? We could watch a film, Play a board game... or whatever else you want to do" Marina sang.

"Can we just sit here and hang out?" I asked apprehensively. Waiting nervously for an answer.

"Totally! To be honest that is one of my favourite things to do." 

Marina and I hung out for a few hours and she taught me how to play chess which seemed very difficult at first but after a while I was whooping her ass!

"Caitlyn, I can't get over how awesome your accent is! Where are you from?"

"Just outside London in the uk"

Jesse's POV

Jesse and Sophia had just hailed a cab to the solicitor's office.

I looked over to find Sophia starring out of the window.
"Hey" I said as I nudged her arm "can I ask you something?"

She turned to face me and replied "sure what is it?"
"How do you always know when Caitlyn is feeling anxious or nervous?"

"I don't know I just get this feeling"
