Russia 1943
"Yo-ho to fight Hydra we go.... Yo-ho to fight Hydra we go..." Chanted the Howling Commandos.
They were marching along the edge of a snow-covered mountain. Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes were walking side-by-side at the front of the line.
"So this Zola guy is supposedly on the train?" Bucky asked, looking down at his snow-covered boots.
"His name is Dr. Zola," Steve replied. "He's the weapon creator for Hydra. If we bring him back to the SSR, we'll get the answers we're looking for. Without him, Hydra won't have anyone to design their weapons for them. It's imperative that we get him out of that train..." He looked over the edge of the mountain to the railroad track below.
The plan was for the group to zone in on the train using a zip-line - which was conveniently right above the tracks. One by one, they would touch down onto the train, and get inside. There they would get the train to stop, find Dr. Zola, and bring him back to the SSR. Steve wasn't nervous - it seemed like a simple enough task. Now that he was injected with the serum, he was a super soldier. He wasn't afraid of anything. Bucky on the other hand, looked kind of shaky.
Steve patted Bucky on the back as they were looking down at the railroad. It seemed like a 100 foot drop. Bucky looked up, faking a smile.
"Remember when I made you ride the cyclone at Coney Island?" Bucky asked.
"Yea and I threw up?" Steve answered, smiling at the memory.
"This isn't payback is it?" He replied.
"Now why would I do that." Steve said, mischievously. They exchanged a light laugh before preparing to go down the zip-line. The train was approaching.
Steve quickly went over the plan.
"I want a 5 foot long gap between each one of us on the zip-line. Then on my cue, we touch down. Dugan, Jim and Monty, I want you to go to the control room and stop the train. Bucky, Pinky and I will find Zola. Everybody understand?" Steve asked in his authoritative Captain America voice.
"Yes Cap!" They all replied back.
The train was approaching faster now.
"We've only got a 10 second window. You miss that window..." Steve shakes his head, dismissing the thought. "You're bugs on a windshield."
Steve went first down the zip-line, feeling the cold wind smack against his face. Then a few seconds later, Bucky. Then a few seconds later, Pinky. And so on and so forth. Once they were all zooming down the zip-line, Steve stuck his arm out and balled his hand into a fist, signaling for the Howling Commandos to touch down onto the top of the train. They all walked towards the ladder leading inside the train, wind still whistling in their faces.
The train was going 100 miles per hour in the freezing cold, but the group kept up their persistence. All of them finally climbed down the ladder and were inside the train. They then split up - some of them to look for Zola, some of them to stop the train. Bucky and Steve walked into multiple rooms, looking for the doctor but so far had no luck. All they found was a room that held boxes and boxes of ammunition.
This must be Hydra's storage car , Steve thought.
Looking around, Steve read some of the labels on the boxes out loud. "Grade A predator missiles ... Military grade AK-47..."
"Damn." Bucky whispered when he heard them.
Steve and Bucky exchanged nervous glances towards each other.
"We should find Zola." Steve insisted. "Right" Bucky answered.
They headed towards a door connecting the storage car to another train car. Steve went first, and Bucky was walking through the doorway behind him, when... all of a sudden, the door between the 2 cars automatically shut. Bucky was trapped back in the storage car, and looked at Steve through the window in the door. Both of them tried to get the door to open- pushing it...kicking it.... but nothing would work. The door wouldn't budge.
Bucky was trapped on the other side of the door as he heard a noise coming from the back of his car. 3 Hydra agents entered... and they were armed.

Author's note:
Hello! Thank you so much for reading the first chapter of this book. I am so excited to keep writing it. Please vote and leave comments about what you like... and what you think I should change! I'm always open to new ideas. Now I think is a good time to make note that in order for this story to really make sense, it is important that you have watched the Captain America movie. This scene was taken directly out of it and tweaked a little bit.
Let me know how you like it! New updates should be out soon. -L
