Dear Diary,
Susan said there was a new dress waiting for me at the bottom of the lake behind my house. She told me to jump in and get it, and then I would be just like her! I almost did but my Dad stopped me. He said Susan was stupid and that she didn't exist. I cried and so did Susan. He yelled at me and beat me, but I was okay because I had Susan. She and I ran out of the house and to the train tracks. Susan cried because she never got her bonnet. She asked me to get it or her, but I said that train tracks were dangerous, and that I would buy her a brand new bonnet. She smiled and I smiled, too. We walked back home and saw my Dad in the lake. Susan said he was sleeping.
Love,
Lucy Belle
