Miracles in December (A Xiuchen Fanfic)

December 31st

We cheered in the streets as the moon slowly took the sun's place in lighting up the sky. The year was about to end, time to move into a new era of our lives. I stared at the crescent moon, it showed off a pale yellow, faint light. As I watched the moon, someone hugged me from behind and rested his head on my shoulder. "What a year... Right hyung?" Chen said. I nodded slowly as I gently rested my head on his. "Did you open the present yet?" He asked. I chuckled and shook my head. He smiled and let go of me, "Good, don't open it until Midnight when the New year starts." I watched him as he walked off to join Kai who was dancing.

I decided to go back to the hotel with D.O and Luhan first while the others continued to march down the streets shouting happy new year. "Xiumin hyung... Do you have a crush on Chen?" Luhan asked. D.O looked at me, curious at what I was going to answer. I didn't answer for a full minute, thinking over the question again and again. Did I like Chen? Was all we did together this December just because of friendship? I closed my eyes and thought more. He did so much for me... I did a lot for him... I finally decided to shrug and didn't answer. I saw D.O look at Luhan who looked disappointed. We walked the rest of the way back home without saying another word.

I found it hard to sleep because there was fireworks flashing and it making a lot of noise. I decided to stay up and to just look up at the sky for the beautiful fireworks blossoming around. The countdown was about to start since it was 11:50pm now. Luhan and D.O were over at the next room watching TV. I scanned around for my snow globe and found it next to my bag. I picked it up and shook it. The snow was falling beautifully as Santa was sleighing around the city with his reindeer. I settled the globe next to the lamp with the music box theme winded and waited for the countdown. The night was peaceful besides the noise outside and people across the city partying and anticipating for the year to end.

It was now 11:59pm and the countdown started in seconds. 59.... 58... 57... My heart started to race quickly as I felt myself falling slowly back into my pool of memories. 50... 49... 48... I closed my eyes as the memory of the accident popped up and tried to take me once again. 39... 38... 37... I saw myself sleeping next to an empty hearted Chen who was just a shell with no memory of who he was. 32... 31... 30... 29... I gasped for air as I remembered the nightmare on the maze with the chains tying me in the darkness. 25... 24... 23... Chen was once again in the hospital because he seek to revenge for me. 20... 19... 18... Miracles of Christmas, Miracles in December had happened and spending the last days of the year with Exo and Chen. 10... 9... 8... The question Luhan asked before started replaying again and again. 7... 6... 5... 4... I opened my eyes and grabbed Chen's present while holding it tightly against my chest. 3... I... 2... Do 1... Love... 0. Chen. There was noise all over the Hotel, outside and inside. Fireworks started lighting up the sky. I stared at the box and opened it slowly. My heart started to race as I opened it. I took out the object, it was a charm in a shape of a snowflake. There was a picture of me and Chen with gold sparkly letters on top printed 'Saranghaeyo Minseok Hyung'. I touched the Snowflake and noticed that it was made of glass. I had to be very careful not to break it so I wrapped it with plastic wrap and set it in the box.

Later that night, the rest of the members were home. Chen came into my room quickly with a grin. At first I made no movement, then my tears started falling as I jumped off my bed to hug him. We both fell to the ground together in a hug. "Woah hyung... It's not like we just met after a decade, calm down." That made me hug him even tighter. "Jongdae... Chen ah... I love you... I love you in all my heart." He was silent for a while and I almost thought he couldn't take the words I just said. "Hyung... I love you too." He kissed me on the lips forcing me to kiss deeper. Luhan had stood by the doorway to watch us. He smiled after seeing the successful confession and disappeared to join the others while leaving us alone. December was gone... A new year had started.
