Laura waited nervously outside of the employment office door, the job add she was applying for scrunched in her hand. She had been in Berlin 3 months and was in desperate need for a job; she had been bumming a room with her best friend Violet who had been living in Germany for a year now.  She knew she couldn't mooch off her friend forever.

'Breathe Laura,' She thought to herself, 'you can do this'. She slapped her cheeks a little to psych herself up before raising her hand and knocking on the office door.

"Come in" Came a women's voice with a heavy German accent. Laura breathed out shakily, wiped her sweaty palms on her black pencil skirt and turned the knob, slowly walking into the room. Sitting behind a large desk was a women in her late 40's smiling politely.

"What can I help you with?" she asked. Laura nervously handed over the flyer for the housekeeping position she had found outside the building.

"My name is Laura, I've come to apply for this position" she replied smiling politely. The women looked at the paper then back at Laura, eyeing her up a little.

"Tell me what qualifications you have," she said. Laura panicked and blanked for a moment, trying to rack her brain for the qualifications that she had repeated in her head just moments ago.

"Well I graduated 2 years ago with a culinary degree, before that I worked for 4 years as a housekeeper for a family of 7, along with light housekeeping at a hotel for a few months. I also brought my references if you would care to look." She handed over her papers. The women scrutinized them for a moment before smiling warmly.

"Hmm, well Laura I think we have just the position for you. I have an opening for a housekeeper for a group of 6, with your qualifications I feel you will fit right in" She smiled and handed her back her papers.

"Really?!" Laura asked excitedly, she was so happy she got the job and was doing her happy dance in her head.

"When would you be available to move in to the house?" she asked, taking a post-it off her desk and writing down the address.

"I can move in today if that is what's needed" she replied happily. She was getting so anxious and excited to meet her new employers.

"That sounds perfect" She smiled, handing her the slip of paper, "I will tell Adam you will be there tonight, here is the address."

"Thank you so much!" Laura was grinning from ear to ear, putting the paper in her pocket and jumping up shaking the women's hand before bounding out the door for the apartment.  She practically ran the 5 blocks to her and Violet's apartment, sprinting up 3 flights of stairs before bursting through the door.

"I GOT THE JOB!" she screamed as Violet came running to give her a hug. Violet turned on some happy music and they did their signature happy dance around the apartment.

"When do you leave?" she asked excitedly.

"I have to be there tonight" Laura could see a hint of sadness in her best friends eyes so she pulled her close,"'Ill call you every night"

"You better!" Violet laughed, "And I expect a full report each night!" They burst into fits of giggles as Laura ran to her bedroom to pack up her things. She decided to turn on some Rammstein while she packed humming along to "Mein Teil" while she stuffed clothes and books into her suitcase that she dragged from her closet. After 2 hours and many songs later she had her suitcases sitting in the hallway as she cooked one final meal with her friend. They decided on homemade macaroni and cheese, one of Violet's favorites. After their meal Violet looked at Laura sadly.

"I'm going to miss you Lo," She sniffed. Laura smiled sadly, pulling her best friend into a bear hug.

"I'll miss you more Lettie" Violet giggle and poked Laura's side making the girl jump and fake scowl before they burst into laughter. Laura checked her watch, 5 pm. She sighed.

"I better get going, I'll call you when I get there and get settled okay? Love you Lettie." Laura smiled a little patting her friend on the head as she sniffled and pulled her into a bone crushing hug.  They both grabbed a suitcase and backpack and headed out to the cab that was waiting outside. Laura heaved her stuff into the trunk, gave her friend one last hug and climbed into the cab, giving the driver the address to her new place.

'Breathe Laura, you can do this' she thought smiling to herself a little as the cab pulled away.
