I stopped dead in my tracks and started jumping up and down. "WHAT! When! How! Why! Tell me everything! How did you meet? Is he part of your pack?" I hadn't noticed that I was causing a scene until people started laughing under their breath at my sudden outburst.
Giving the laughing people a glare i grabbed Jess' arm and draged her around the corner of the building. "Okay, spill!" i practically was begging her for more info.
"Okay okay fine."
I smile satisfied and sat down on one of the benches and nodding for her to follow. Once she sat she started talking.
"When i got there i was a bit disoriented because it was so secluded and hidden. It didn't help much that it had been raining all night and everything was foggy. But, because of all the running i was starving. So, i was walking around looking for anyone i could recognize and ask them where it was best to hunt. Eventually i found a group of teens running out to grab a meal and i tagged along."
"Oh my god just get to the good part!" i beeged
"Well if you let me talk i will!" Jess snapped back
"Sorry!" i quickly said with a sheepish look on my face.
Rolling her eyes, i noticed they had misted over, as if she was really seeing what she was about to tell me. "I had just taken down a small deer and dragged it under a tree so the mud wouldn't ruin it."
I cringed at the thought of muddy meat. It ruined the whole meal with its taste, like tree bark and roots.
"I was almost done eating when my wolf sensed something was wrong so i hung my deer in a tree and patrolled the area with the other wolves. What we found was awful. A pup had slipped in the mud and was rolling down into a river. All five of us ran down and tried to reach her, knowing we'd be too late. Then out of nowhere a giant brown wolf sprinted out about 200 yards ahead of us. He rand down the river bank and scaled the rocky side, grabbed the pup and then sprinted away towards our camp. All the other wolves knew him as Randy but i had never seen hime before. So out of curiosity, i followed him back. The other wolves continued their hunt so i was by myself. The wind was going north so neither of us got each other's scent. But once i reached camp i found the little pup to make sure she was fine. Her name ended up being nia, Randy's cousin. But once i was near her my wolf was going crazy. She was covered in a scent. HIS scent. I knew then that i absolutley had to find him. So i asked around and by the time i found him it was nearly dark. And Bell, he is so perfect! He is a relative of my old neighbors but never visited our pack when it was still together. We have so much in common too! We both love swimming, campfires, and he is an awesome cook..."
Jess went on and on so i zoned out a little. Even though i was excited and happy for my best friend, i felt a little alone. I was one of the last wolves in my grade to not have a mate and sometimes it made me wish i could just find mine soon.
One day we will find our mate. He will love us and we will love him just as much. We will spend our lives together and will forget what it was like not to be mated. My wolf said, comforting me. I just smiled to myself and realizing Jess had stopped talking to catch her breath i refoucused.
"Sooooo, have you guys...?" i asked wiggiling my eyebrows.
"Bell!" she said slapping my arm, "No we have not completely mated yet but we've talked about it so i think its comming soon! Right now he is saying goodbye to his family temporarily so he can come to school with me and finish with us. How sweet is that! I already talked to Alpha Mark and he understands. But being away from him for even this one day has been really hard. I miss him so much, like half of me is missing."
"Well duh, fate doesn't pick your mate so you can be strangers and never miss eachother."
"Haha, i guess you're right," Jess said as the last warining bell went off. We ran down the halls to our lockers and into class just in time before we would get in trouble.
Wow, Jess has a mate. My wolf said. I could catch the hint of jealousy laced in her voice though.
"Yes she does, and soon we will too."
I reassured her and then pulled out my pencil, quickly writing down the new notes in biology. Alright, lets just get throught the day and then i'm feeling like a long run. My wolf yipped happily at the thought.
