Carter's POV

Later that night, I was laying in bed, alone. After our fight, me and Michael hadn't said two words to each other. I looked over at the clock and it read 1:32am. Usually, I'd be sleep but I couldn't because I kept feeling this pain on the left side of my body.

I thought it would go away eventually but I had been feeling it all day and it seemed to get worse after my argument with Michael. I decided to get outta bed and take a walk down to the kitchen. I was hungry and I figured walking might help ease the pain.

I got out of bed and walked out of our bedroom. I walked quietly down the stairs and made my way to the kitchen. I opened the fridge and decided to make a bowl of vanilla ice cream, with strawberries and grapes on the side. After I grabbed a bowl, I started spooning some into it. While I was doing that, I heard a noise. When I looked up Michael was standing in the doorway looking at me.

"Hey," he whispered.

"Hey," I sighed.

I continued getting the ice cream and when I finished, I put the strawberries and grapes right in the bowl too. I got everything and put it back in the fridge. I grabbed my bowl and was about to walk past Michael when he stopped me.

"You're not gonna talk to me?" He asked, with sadness in his eyes.

"I didn't plan on it, no," I answered honestly.

"Carter, please. I feel like shit."

"As you should. Now, move."

"I didn't mean anything I said."

"If you didn't mean it, then why'd you say it?"

"I was just upset," he shrugged.

"That's no excuse," I shook my head. "You were wrong for that. Dead wrong."

"I know that! That's why I'm trying to apologize."

Just then, I felt that pain again, but this time it was stronger. I exhaled and held my side.

"Baby, what's wrong?" I looked up and Michael had a worried look on his face.

"I've been having this pain in my side all day today and last night."

"Show me where."

He held out his hand and I grabbed it and put it where my pain was coming from.

"I think we should take you to the emergency room Carter."

"Why? I have a doctor's appointment in the morning. Can't we just wait till then?"

"I'd feel better if we checked this out now. I just wanna make sure you two are ok," he said, referring to me and the baby.

"Ok, ok. Let me go get dressed and we'll go."

"Thank you baby."

He tried to kiss my cheek but I dodged it. I pushed past him and went back upstairs. I kept on his button up shirt that I had on and I just pulled on a pair of jeans. When K went back downstairs, Michael was standing by the door, fully dressed, with his keys in his hand. He had on a sweatshirt and a pair of jeans, with his hair in a low bun. He looked hot.

"You ready?" He asked.

"Yeah," I nodded. "You're driving?"

"Ricky's gone home for the night and I didn't wanna bother him."

I nodded and we walked out of the house. He walked over to my truck and unlocked the doors. We got in and he started up the car.

"You didn't say you were driving my car," I said.

"Is it a problem?" He looked over at me before driving out of the gates and onto the highway.

"Well, you're not really the best driver and if you're gonna wreck a car, I'd rather it be one of yours than mine."

"I've gotten better and besides, I bought you this car. If I wrecked it, I could easily buy you another one."

"Whatever," I muttered, looking out of the window. All of a sudden, the pain came back and it was as worse as it was had ever been.

"Fuck," I groaned. Michael looked over at me.

"What happened? You ok?" He asked, worried.

"It hurts Michael," I gritted my teeth. I shifted in my seat and realized I felt wetness in between my legs.

"Michael, hurry up," I begged.

"I am baby. Im going as fast as I can."

After 15 agonizing minutes, we finally pulled into UCLA medical center. We quickly got out and Michael wrapped his arm around my shoulder as we walked in.

"Michael, we didn't call Dr. Waters. I dont wanna see another doctor who hasn't signed a NDA."

"Baby, calm down. You're rambling. Now, I called Dr. Waters before we left the house. Thankfully, he was already here because one of his other patients was giving birth. He said he'd see us as soon as we got here."

I nodded, sighing in relief. We checked in with the receptionist and she put us in a hospital room. Michael helped me up into the bed and I laid there.

"How you feeling?" He rubbed my forehead.

"I'm in pain. It hurts Michael."

"It'll be ok baby. It'll be ok." He kissed my hand and held it. Just then, Dr. Waters walked in.

"Ok, what's going on Carter? He asked.

"I've been having this pain on my left side since last night and Michael persuaded me to come get it checked out."

"I see. Well, have you felt the baby move?"

"No. I haven't felt her move in two days."

"You didn't tell me that," Michael piped up. He let go of my hand.

"I didn't think anything of it," I lied. I didn't want him to get mad at me again.

"Ok. Let's do an ultrasound and see what's going on."

I nodded and lifted up my shirt. He grabbed a container and squirted get onto my stomach. He turned on the machine and moved the wand back and forth over my stomach.

"Well, there she is," he said. I looked over and there she was on the screen. He continued to move the wand back and forth but all of a sudden, he stopped and his face fell.

"What is it? What's wrong?" I asked, scared.

"I'm sorry, you guys. There's no heartbeat."

Michael instantly grabbed my hand.

"And that means...."

"You've had a miscarriage."
