"Damn it, not again," I groaned in slight annoyance as I had run out of two different colors of paint and green fabric. I was working on a canvas as a project for art school and cosplay for San Diego Comic Con. I've been multitasking for years, and I've mastered it pretty well. Not only do I multitask, but I'm a major procrastinator, yet I eventually get things done.
I let out a sigh and stood up from the carpeted floor, removing the paint-covered apron that was wrapped around me. With no time to waste, I quickly grabbed my purse and slipped on my flats, rushing out of my apartment. I refused to waste any time, since the project is due tomorrow and I need to get this cosplay done before the convention, which is in three days.
Lucky for me, there was a flea market a few blocks from my apartment. As fast as a lightning bolt, I dashed towards the market and came to a halt. It wasn't too crowded, and I could spot someone selling precious art supplies from a distance. Speed walking towards the stand, I had stopped myself after hearing someone call out for me.
"You there, young lady! You must be the girl from my visions!" I averted my gaze to see a short elder behind a stand, staring at me with a satisfied grin.
"Visions? Sir, you're probably thinking of somebody else, not me." I chuckled a tad nervously and watched as he slowly shook his head. "No, I know what I am talking about. Don't be shy, come closer! I'm an old man, not the Loch Ness Monster!" The man joked as he gestured for me to come closer to the stand. I furrowed my eyebrows as I took a few steps closer, standing in front of a variety of bracelets, and they were quite pretty. Though, one had certainly caught my attention. It was placed in the corner of the stand, glimmering in the street lights. It came in shades of green, and it looked as if it had cracks all over the beads, but it didn't. I couldn't stop staring at it, it was absolutely lovely.
"I knew you'd be intrigued by that one," He said suddenly, I didn't notice that he was watching me carefully until he spoke up.
"Well yeah, it's beautiful. But-"
"It is you. I was right!" He nearly hollered, and I cleared my throat awkwardly. "What are you talking about?" I bothered to ask, and his lips curled into a smile as he rested his elbows on the edge of the stand. "That bracelet hasn't been noticed by anyone but you. And someone else. But I will mention who that is once I finish telling you about the significance of that bracelet." He stated, pointing his finger at the eye-catching accessory. Before I could open my mouth to speak, he began his sentence almost immediately. "I have been having continuous visions of you and a certain man. You two are meant to be together, and you will be meeting him soon. A way he can tell that you're his soulmate right away is if he sees you with this bracelet." He briefly explained as he picked up the bracelet from the corner and held it in his hand.
Okay, either this guy is a complete wack job, trying to take my money, or he may be telling the actual truth. I highly doubt he was telling the truth. "Sir, I think you-"
And once again, I was interrupted. He lifted his index finger up at me and nearly scowled. "Shh! I know I am not crazy, and you need to believe me." He said slowly as he put his hand back down. The amount of time I have been wasting was a lot, and I sighed sharply. "Listen, I'm in a rush. I'll buy it off of you and if what you say really does happen, I'll throw a parade or whatever." I said quickly as I reached down to my purse, and he quickly stopped me from doing so. "No, no. I will give it to you for free. But you owe me something that is not money." "Which is..?"
"Once you have met him and had fallen in love with him, come to me, and bring him with you. I want to know that I was right all this time." He said in a slightly hushed tone, and handed me the bracelet, along with a piece of paper with an address written on it. I looked up at the man and gave him a nod, my lips pulling into a half smile. Although I felt as if this was just some sort of trick to get my hopes up, I wanted to know if he was right too. "Gee, thanks mister. I'll remember to see you soon." I replied as I began to walk off, waving goodbye.
In a matter of a few minutes, I managed to get the paint that I needed and the fabric. I bought some extra colors of paint and fabric just in case. I checked my watch and noticed that it was already 7:00 PM. 'Shit, I took longer than I expected,' I thought with a sigh as I hurried back to my apartment, setting my purse on the counter and heading back to my bedroom.
"Another sleepless night, yay me." I muttered to myself as I resumed to painting and occasionally sewing fabric together.
