I finally texted him.
Well, atleast Max continued to remind me to do so.She sat across from me on the floor, with my cellphone in between us. We just stared at it, with a few occasional glances at each other in pure silence. "Do you think he read it already?" She asked, her hands folded in front of her lips. "No clue at all."
"Did it even send?" "I'm sure it did, Max." "True true, but maybe he could be b-"
And at that moment, the phone started ringing, and it was Mark that was calling.
"Answer it for me." I said quickly, sliding the phone to her. "What? No way! I'm not the one with the magical boyfriend finder bracelet thing! You answer it!" She yelled frantically, sliding it to me. We quickly kept passing it to each other until I finally gave in and grabbed the phone, and answered the call while bolting up from the floor."Hey Mark, I didn't think you would call me!" I said, turning my head to Max, who was looking at me anxiously. She stood up and stood next to me, leaning close to my phone to listen in on the phone call. "Oh yeah, I was planning on calling you once you texted me.. Did I disturb you by any chance?" He asked and I glanced at Max from the corner of my eye. "Oh no no, of course not!" I assured him as I walked over to the couch, and Max was still following me around to listen to the conversation. I held my phone out in front of me and put it on speaker so she wouldn't have to be stuck onto me like glue.
"Oh good, I'm glad to hear that. Anyways, are you still up for meeting me for coffee or have you changed your mind about it?" Max and I looked at each other, and she nodded without hesitation. "I'm still up for it. It feels like decades since I haven't been to a coffee shop.." I said, and I felt Max lean to my ear. "But you went like last week," She whispered in my ear and I nudged her in the crotch, causing her to yelp.
"What was that?" He asked as Max glared at me in silence. "Nothing, don't worry about it. So um, coffee tomorrow, sounds great!" I said with some enthusiasm, trying to refrain myself from laughing. "Cool! I'll pick you up tomorrow. What's your address?" "739 Ogden Drive." I replied leaning back on the cushions. "Not too far from here, that's perfect. I'll see you tomorrow then." "Okay, bye bye," I replied softly, then hesitantly hung up.
I set the phone down on the table and put my hand over my head. "Did I ever mention that his voice is like butter?" I asked suddenly and Max rose a brow. "Like... Butter?" She giggled mid-sentence. "Yeah, like his voice is smooth and it sounds pretty damn soothing-"
"What the hell am I saying at this point?"
"Beats me. But anyways, I'm going to hit the hay and then go out for a walk tomorrow morning. Mind if we share your bed?" "Nah I don't mind, I'll go to bed later. Goodnight."
-
My eyes opened slowly, and I groggily sat up from the couch instead of my bed. I must have passed out on the couch last night. Rubbing my tired eyes, I didn't seem to hear Max anywhere. "Max..?" I called out. Nothing. 'Well she on her morning walk, so I get some free time to myself for now.' I thought with a grin as I went on my phone, beginning to blast On the Regular by Shamir. Skipping to the bathroom, I brushed my teeth and washed my face as usual, then went back to the living room.Since this was my apartment and I'm alone, I have the freedom to hang around with no pants and a t-shirt. I pulled my pants off as I sang along to the song, dancing to the beat of the music for a while.
Max's POV
"Hey, you were at the convention yesterday with that girl with the bracelet, right?"
That was such a familiar voice, I could immediately tell who it was. Staying calm, I turned around and nodded with a crooked smile. "Here to pick my friend up, eh?" I asked, then motioned for him to follow me up the stairs to Vivien's apartment. On the way to her apartment, I decided to speak up, maybe intimidate him a little. "The name's Maxine, but it's best if you call me Max." "Ah alright, my name is-" "Yeah I know your name already, Mark. But anywho, don't you dare break precious Vivien's heart if you ever decide to be with her, otherwise you'll lose a nut before you know it." I said lowly, staring up at him as he looked back at me, with quite a concerned face.
I stopped walking midway as I had burst out laughing. "Man, you should have seen the look on your face! I was only kidding about you losing a nut!" I exclaimed as I continued laughing, tears filling my eyes. "Oh man.." I trailed off as I wiped away the tears of laughter, noticing how amused he was while watching me laugh my ass off. I stopped laughing as I stood straight, beginning to walk again. "But all jokes aside, don't break her heart. She's had men who treated her like utter shit. I'm a little surprised on how she manages to still have a smile on her face after all that. I can respect that." I clarified, beginning to look more serious this time.
"Don't worry, Max. I promise I won't hurt her like that." He reassured me, and I nodded at first. But then a devilish grin curled on my lips. "Like that, huh? Are there other ways? Are you planning to get a little saucy with her in bed? Get the ol' whip out and..." I said jokingly and stopped speaking, pursing my lips to hold in my laughter. His face became red, and he opened his mouth to protest what I had just said. "Max, you're a fucking pervert." He muttered and let out a chuckle, running a hand over his hair nervously. We arrived at the apartment, and I reached out for the doorknob, and opened the door.
The first thing I saw was Vivien in her damn underwear again, as music blared throughout the living room. Viv turned her head to the door and screamed the moment she spotted Mark next to me, and I hurriedly closed the door. I turned around to see mark with wide eyes, and he was blushing so bad.
"Well, atleast you got to see her in her panties quicker than most boys would.." I said with a crooked smile, and I facepalmed at my statement.
