"Dude, you look freakin' rad as Shego." Max said, giving a thumbs up in approval. I looked at myself in the mirror, now having face paint on any skin showing and black lipstick on my upper lip. I topped everything off by pulling on the black wig on my head adjusting it a bit and then putting the bracelet on again.
Max watched as I put it on, and I turned to her. "It sucks that you couldn't cosplay as Kim with me," I spoke up and she shook her head, leaning on the edge of my bed. "Well if you could have mentioned the convention earlier, I would have done it," "Cut me some slack man, a girl like me forgets a lot," I said back to her as she jokingly rolled her eyes, plopping down on the bed.
"Karliah isn't coming?" I asked, tossing Max's car keys to her, and she caught it in her hands. "Can't. She has this important book club meeting or something like that." Max stood up from the bed, beginning to walk out the bedroom as I packed a few things in a small backpack, then followed Max to her car. "It's going to be about a twenty minute drive I think, just so you know." She stated as she unlocked the car doors, and we both entered the vehicle.
The whole twenty-minute drive consisted of Max jamming out to some tunes, and telling me ridiculously silly jokes every time she gets the chance. It's the usual thing.
"Hey, we're here!" She said with enthusiasm, getting me pumped up. I laughed softly as she parked in a spot close to the large building, shutting off the engine. I got out of the car, putting the backpack over my shoulders as I shut the door and began walking beside Max.
"I'm gonna stock the hell up on Pocky, if you don't mind that." "Not at all Max, be my guest."
Max grabbed me by the wrist and practically dragged me to a nearby stand that sold Pocky and other sweets. "Whoa whoa, slow down Max! I nearly tripped twice!" I said as she stopped right in front of a small stand filled with boxes of japanese candy. I stood there as she bought quite a lot of Pocky boxes, pulling out money from her pocket and paying for the candy.
"Alright, can we sit down to pig out on this? This stuff is too good to eat later." She asked, and her eyes lit up when I finally nodded. I followed her to this staircase that led to the second floor, and she sat down against a wall next to it. She tossed a box over to me after I leaned against the side of the staircase and I began to open up the box. I pulled one out of the box and I heard someone call out to me.
"Hey you, the one in the green and black!" I looked up from the box and stared at Max, who sat there frozen in place. She looked as if she saw a ghost. She was staring at whoever it was that was calling out for me, and she was so close to flipping the hell out.
I took a nervous gulp, then slowly turned my head. "M-me?" I asked, lightly tapping my index finger against the box. I saw a man with a pair of glasses, facial hair, and a fluffy head of hair approach me. "Yes, you. Can I talk to you for a moment?" He asked calmly, and I looked over to Max, who was already looking at me and nodding her head quickly, shoving a Pocky stick in her mouth.
I turned to face him, and tilted my head up a bit to look at him. Honestly he was taller than me, but not extremely taller.
"Okay, talk to me." I said nonchalantly, slightly crossing my arms. "That bracelet you have there,"
"Yeah, what about it?"
He held his hand out towards me, revealing a bracelet that looked exactly like mine. Same design, same color, same everything. I could see Max's mouth open from the corner of my eye, and I stayed silent for a moment, not knowing what to say.
"You know what this means right?" He asked, staring straight at me. "Yes I know about the story behind these bracelets, but do you really believe that..? I mean, it sounds like a load of baloney."
"And you haven't thought of giving it a try." He added, and I bit the inside of my cheek. Well, he got me there for sure. "Uh listen, we can talk about this over coffee tomorrow if you want.. My name is Mark by the way," He said briefly, and wrote something down on a piece of paper with a pen, then handed it to me. "Text me later, I'm in a bit of a rush right now.." Mark, then gave me a nod and a soft smile, then walked up the stairs to his next destination.
"Holy shit..." Max said very slowly, her jaw had dropped. "Did you know who you were talking to?!" She nearly yelled as I turned to her. "No.. Who-" "That's motherfucking Markiplier, dude. You don't know about him?" She asked, and I shrugged. "I've heard his name before, but I don't really know him." I said and she put her hand over her forehead. "This is insane, man. Fucking crazy. I cannot believe that he actually wants to give this bracelet crap a try. You're going to text him, right?" She spoke fast, obviously she couldn't keep her cool about this.
"Well yeah, it would be rude to ignore someone like that," I said, and Max let out a breath of air. "Okay, cool. I'm rooting for you." She said with a grin, patting my shoulder as she picked up the bag filled with Pocky boxes. "Let's take a walk to the gaming room, shall we?" Max asked and I quickly nodded, then she lead the way to the gaming room.
Everything went pretty well. People asked for pictures with me, I ate a ton of Pocky with Max, we played video games and went to panels, it was a blast.
Once we reached home though, I realized something.
I still have to text Mark.
