"I'm so sorry Julie," Ali whispered as I fell to my knees. The town hall was in pieces, nothing more than rubble was left.
I lost him. Why Jordan? He was a great person so why? What did he do to deserve this.
The sky was after darkening as it hit 6pm. Ali was looking as upset as I was. Maybe that Damien guy was her boyfriend.
Dust was flying into my eyes but I didn't care. I let out an angry scream punching the ground with all my strength. "Ouch, fuck," I cussed as knuckles made stinging contact with the rubble covered pavement. My face darkened, all I was seeing now was red and rage.
Only just yesterday we had been joking around and cracking smiles as we tickled and teased each other. Was this my punishment for not being good enough.
What was it going to be like from now on without Jordan?
"Well well well lookie what we git ourselves here lads." A sickening voice cackled from behind us.
Several voices cracked up in cackling laughter.
"We gottie ourselves some survivors lads 'n' pretty lassies at that."
"Survivors eh?"
"Aw lookie one over there is crying. Aw lass did we make your friends go boom?"
"If you's are nice to us we might leave you come with us with only a wee missing hand.... or two."
I glanced at Ali with widened eyes. 'Lunics' she mouthed back. We both scrambled to our feet to come face to face with about 10 dirt covered people well they didnt look like people anymore.
These were the things that everyone was so frightened of. They did look a bit off putting alright with shaved heads, scarce clothing, missing teeth and most were covered in blood.
How come there wasn't any children? Maybe they had a small bit of sanity left in them so they didnt put their kids in danger.
"Looking for the wee 'uns lassie?" One stared me down. I think it was a man but I'm not certain.
"We killed 'em all. Slowin' us down, they were," Another lunic answered.
Instead of fear rushing through me, anger was. My blood was boiling. These things killed my parents, they killed Jordan, they killed their own fuckin' children and a lot of innocent people. They were going to pay.
I drew my sword from it sheath. I charged at the small group of lunics without thinking. My mind was blank. I felt nothing, no pain, no fear. Nothing. I slashed one straight down the stomach and kicked the lunic to ground.
Ali followed suit with her own sword ploughing down the lunics. None of them had weapons for some strange reason. How do they manage to kill people?
I pulled out my gun and loaded it while Ali fought two on her own.
I elbowed a lunic away when it got too close and pulled the trigger shooting it in the foot.We kept battling until only two remained. I had no choice but to throw my gun at one because my bullets were gone. It struck it on the temple causing the lunic to hit the ground unconscious while Ali slashed the other one across the neck.
The night was after creeping in on us by the time we collapsed to the ground exhausted.
Hot tears began to spill down my face and I pulled my knees up to my chest.
He's gone. Why? Why was my heart aching this much? The night felt colder without his warm smile to keep my spirits raised. I missed him, no, I needed him. Why do I always fuck up...
