"Where are we going?"
Jason had no idea.
"I do not know."
Rivere did not know either, apparently. So they were blindly stumbling to an unknown place. Lovely, they both thought.
"Let's keep going."
As Rivere spoke, she looked at the boy beside her. He stared right back, nodding.
Then they turned away from each other and focused on what was ahead, pushing away everything else. They were close, they knew.

Dave was getting closer. Soon he would be at the place he was supposed to be, wherever that was.
How much longer? He was getting hungry.
Food, he thought. Yum.

Myra knew The King's threat was true.
Angmon was true to his word, even being the Evil King and all. He actually valued honesty quite a lot. That's a good thing, right?
For Myra, however, it was not.
She would be stuck here forever.

The three teens reached the place at the same time.
They all looked around and examined the area. It was barren and dry. A few puny plants sprouted from the hard ground, brown and dead. Sand dunes towered in the distance. There was no water in sight.
Seeing each other, the teens were startled and a bit cautious. They stood, watching each other closely, for a while. Finally, one of them made up their mind.
Dave stepped forward first.
"Hello..." He trailed off.
The others slowly backed away, wary of this new person.
"Who- who are you?" Rivere and Jason asked at the same time.
"Dave," he answered simply.
And that was when they knew they were meant to be together. That they were connected somehow. But they weren't sure how.
They began to walk again.

Smith and Wu panicked at the empty rooms and at the same time, ran down the hall, bumping into each other and falling to the ground. Maylee giggled softly, while other workers ignored them.
Doctor Chance, being kind and helpful, bent down to help them up. Just then, The Head Doctor came out of his office.
Bad luck, right?
"What's happening here?" He boomed.
"Nothing, sir." They stammered nervously.
"Where are the patients? Are they well?" He asked.
Smith and Wu cowered.
"Well, what is it?" Head Doctor asked.
"Um, sir... The patients aren't there..." Wu trailed off. "We're really sorry, sir," Smith added apologetically, wincing as Maylee let out a light chuckle again. Thankfully, she was silenced by the Head.
"It's alright," he said kindly. "I'm sure you went there as soon as you could."
"Right, sir," they nodded in agreement.
"Um, no they didn't! That jerk Smith was flirting with me!" Maylee ratted them out.
"And Wu stopped for water," Chance added innocently.
Although Maylee did it out of pure maliciousness and hate, Chance, being new, had only did what he thought was right.
Whatever the reason, Smith and Wu were in big trouble.

"We're going to die!" Dave moaned.
Rivere and Jason rolled their eyes.
He had been complaining for the past two hours, non-stop.
"Oh, give me a break!" Rivere groaned.
"Not you too!" Jason exclaimed, disappointed. "I don't think I can take any more of this negativity!"
"What do you expect?" Dave grumbled. "We've been walking forever!"
Now that was true. The teens' feet hurt, their backs ached, and the sun was burning down their necks. Stumbling through the sandy desert, Dave kept falling into the sand dunes. "Rivere, you're lucky you have long hair! At least your neck isn't on fire!" Dave complained, and for once, Jason agreed. "True. So true."
Rivere rolled her eyes but said nothing.
Dave stumbled and fell again, but got up quickly.
"I think I have sand in my buttcheeks," he announced.
"I could have gone without knowing that," Dave replied, disgusted.
"In other words, TMI!!" Rivere spoke, like a typical teen.
Then they were silent for a bit.
"This is boring." Dave stated as night began to creep up on them.
"Let's go to sleep now," Jason responded, taking charge. They stopped and made 'camp' in the dry desert, weak, tired, and thirsty.
"I found water!" Jason exclaimed. Rivere and Dave ran behind him, jumping over sand dunes, and gratefully drank from the oasis. Full of water, but hungry, they went back to camp.
Crack! Snap!
The teens' hair stood on end as they looked around, alert, but saw nothing.
No one spoke for a while, and just as they began to relax, it happened again.
Crack! Snap! Snap!
"It's getting closer!" Rivere whispered violently, fear coursing through her veins.
Jason bravely stepped forward. "Who is it?" He asked, his voice calm and smooth. Rivere felt a burst of admiration for his courage, but worried for Jason's safety.
Something growled and stepped forward.
The group peered ahead and saw it.
A wolf.
It had matted fur, brown and dirty, covered with sand. It limped towards them, one paw hovering above the ground. The boys prepared to attack, but Rivere spoke.
"Stop!"
The guys stared at her. "Are you crazy?" Dave asked. "It's a wolf!"
"It's hurt," Rivere responded and slowly walked up to the wolf.
"You're going to get yourself killed!" Dave called.
Rivere didn't answer. Instead, she bent down and stroked the wolf's fur gently. It let out a small moan and held out its paw. Rivere gently massaged it, and the wolf licked her. She laughed and felt a surge of affection for it. She continued to pet it while the boys warily watched. They knew they could trust it when the wolf turned over and showed its belly. Rivere giggled and gave it a belly rub. "It's a girl! I'm going to name her..." She studied the wolf. Her fur was now smooth and sleek, her eyes were a deep brown, and she was staring at her. The wolf's paw seemed to be much better, she put her paw down and walked toward the boys, only limping slightly. Then she jumped on them and licked them. They laughed and played with her, accepting her as Blaze the wolf, their protector and new member of their team.
