Dan's POV
-
I wake up to my blaring alarm. Why do I turn it up so loud? I pull myself out of bed and do whatever I do in the mornings.
Shower.
Straighten hair.
Put clothes on.
Brush teeth.
Pack school bag.
Eat breakfast.
Drive to school.
As I'm walking into the cafeteria to meet my friends, Pj and Chris, I check my phone.
No new messages.
I remember the weird conversation I had with Phil last night. He seemed extremely happy and he didn't tell me why. I shrug it off, he said he'll tell me in a week.
"Hey guys," I say, sitting down beside Pj.
"Hey, Dan," Pj greets.
"Hello," Chris says.
"What's up?" I ask.
"Nothing much. I heard there's a new student coming on Monday." Pj tells us.
"Details?" Chris asks.
"Boy, same year as us. That's all I know," Pj says.
"Cool. Maybe we can get him to hang out with us. This school is pretty small, he's got to be in one of our classes," I propose.
"Sounds like a good idea," Chris agrees.
"Cool," I say, but it gets drowned out by the bell ringing and the dragging of chairs on the floor.
I get out of my chair also, saying bye to Chris and Pj then heading to my first class. English.
English is my favourite class, I love reading and writing and it's a pretty simple class for me. The only thing I dislike is that all the popular girls are in my class.
I walk into the classroom, pretending to use my phone because I'm an awkward human being, hoping I can ignore any human interaction. But of course, that doesn't go as planned.
"Hey, Dan!" Someone calls from across the classroom.
I look up to see who called me. It was Katherine.
I give her a quick nod and take my seat in the back corner.
My teacher walks in, calls us to attention, and thankfully, the class shuts up.

At lunch, I walk over to the table that Chris and Pj are at.
"Hey. Any new information on the new kid?" I ask.
"Nope. Someone in my science class said he's moving from Manchester, though," Pj tells me.
Cool, maybe he knows Phil.
"That's nice," I say, not actually caring that much.
"What classes do you guys have next?" Chris asks.
"I have maths and then a free period. I can go home early," I tell them.
"English and then maths," Pj says.
"I have drama and then P.E," Chris tells us.
"Cool," Pj and I say at the same time.
"That reminds me, my math teacher asked me to go talk to her before class started. Got to go. Bye guys," I say, leaving the cafeteria and walking towards my math classroom.

***time skip to Saturday (the day Phil moves in)

I hear a knock on the door, I get up to answer it. Wondering who would be knocking in the middle of the day on a Saturday.
I open the door.
"Hello?" I say, not really looking up.
"Hi."
"Phil?" I reply, looking up. "Phil! What are you doing here?" I ask, letting him into my house.
"I came to deliver the good news!" Phil says, excitedly.
"Why did you come all the way here? You could've called me," I said.
"Well, Dan. If you're aware, a new family moved in three doors down from your house. That happens to be my family," Phil tells me.
"Really? Oh my god! Are you the new student that's coming to school on Monday, too?" I ask.
"Yes," he says.
"Oh my gosh, this is fantastic!" I exclaim.
"I know!" Phil replies. "Now, will you and your family be so kind and help my family unpack a bit?"
"Of course! Let me go get my parents and sister, you stay here," I tell him.
I run into my parent's room.
"Mum! Dad! Phil moved in three doors down! We need to go help his family unpack!" I tell them.
"And, there he is. I was waiting for this all day," Dan's dad says.
"You guys knew that Phil was moving?" I ask.
"Yeah, we've known for a while," my mum says, giggling.
"Go get your sister, we'll go to Phil's house now. Meet you there," my dad tells me.
I walk into my sister's room.
"Hey, come on, we're going to help Phil and his family unpack a bit," I tell Charlotte.
"Okay," Charlotte says, standing up.
"You don't seem surprised," I tell her.
"I already knew he was moving," she says.
"Are you kidding me? Everyone knew but me?" I ask.
"Yes," she replies.
"Whatever," I say, walking down the stairs, grabbing Phil's hand and walking to his house.
Phil and I walk through the front door of the new house and his parents come to greet me.
"Hi, Dan! How have you been?" His mum asks.
"Good. And you?" I ask, politely.
"Good, thank you," she replies.
"Okay, boys. Your mum and dad are working on our living room" Phil's dad says to me, "we're working on the kitchen, Nick and Charlotte are working on Nick's bedroom, and you guys can unpack stuff for Phil's bedroom,"
"Sounds good!" I say, and Phil leads me to his new room.
"Okay, I don't have much. This shouldn't take too long," Phil tells me.

Three hours later, we've gotten all of Phil's furniture in place and all of his stuff out of the boxes.

"Dan?"
"Yes, Phil?"
"Are you going to let me sit with you at lunch and stuff?" Phil asks nervously.
"Of course! Why wouldn't I?" I tell him.
"Okay, thanks," Phil says.
"Hey, can I see your schedule? We might have some classes together," I say.
"Yeah, sure," he says, pulling out a paper from his backpack and handing it to me.
My eyes scan over the paper. "We have all the same classes!" I say.
"Actually?" He replies.
"Yes. But, I have a plan," I say to Phil, smirking.
"Oh no," he says.
"We're going to act like we don't know each other. The first class of the day is English on Monday. I don't sit beside anyone, when you walk in and introduce yourself, sit down beside me and talk to me. You can come sit down with my friends and I at lunch, again, acting like we don't know each other. I want to see how long it takes one of my friends to pick up on us," I tell him. "It could take weeks, be prepared not to be allowed to show affection towards me."
"Sounds like fun. Will your friends like me, though?"
"Yes, they will. I've been friends with them for such a long time, we already planned on inviting this new kid to sit with us before I knew it'd be you, anyways," I say.
"Okay! Thanks, Dan. This will be fun," he says.
"Can you believe it? We get basically a full school year together. I'm so excited!" I tell him.
"I'm excited too," he says, kissing me.
We pull apart a couple minutes later.
"Let's go find our parents and ask what is happening for dinner. Maybe we can all go out somewhere," Phil offers.
"Okay," I say, grabbing his hand and walking down the stairs. I stop at the bottom of the stairs, though. Hearing our parents talking. Phil and I hide around a corner so we can listen to what they're saying.

"I'm so glad that you guys have moved out here," my mum says.
"We are, too. I think our boys are way more excited, though," Phil's dad replies.
"Well, yeah. Have you seen them? They're basically inseperable, always kissing," my dad says.
"That's natural when you've been together for such a long time," Phil's mum says.
"True. They're such a good match. They're so adorable together. I don't think that relationship is going anywhere bad," my mum says.
"They'll be graduating in ten months. After that they're probably going to move out together and start their futures together. Soon we won't have them around as much anymore," Phil's mum says.
"Oh, don't remind me," my dad says.
"I've walked in on them making out before, I couldn't even tell who's legs were who's. They were practically eating each other's faces off," Phil's dad starts.

"I think this is a good time to go interrupt them. I don't really want to hear about the times that they've walked in on us making out," I whisper to Phil.
"I agree," he says, pulling me into the living room.
"Hi," I say.
"Hi boys. Are you hungry? We were thinking about going out for dinner," Phil's mum says.
"That'd be great," Phil replies.
"Okay, sounds good. Why don't you go get Charlotte and Nick, Phil?" Phil's dad says.
"Okay, be right back," Phil says.
Phil turns around and right before he's out of arm's reach, I slap his ass.
"Dan!" Phil exclaims.
"What? I did nothing wrong," I say, innocently.
"You're lucky I love you," he says, pecking my forehead then running up the stairs and retrieving our siblings.
I turn around to see amused expressions plastered on the faces of our parents.
"You guys are so cute," Phil's mum says.
"Oh, I know," I say, sassily, then walking off to put my shoes on.

Later that night, we had finished off at dinner and we were all back at Phil's house for coffee and tea.
"Dan, would you like to stay over tonight?" Phil's mum asks.
"If it's not too much trouble, I'd love to," I tell his parents.
"Is that okay, Laura?" Phil's dad asks my mum.
"Yeah, that's fine!" My mum accepts.
"Okay. Let me go find the air mattress. I think I already put it in the attic for storage," Phil's dad says.
"Seriously, Dad? Dan and I have been together for two years and you're going to go find him an air mattress? He doesn't need one," Phil says.
"Well, I was only going to get it because your bed is quite small and I don't think it'd be very comfortable to be pressed so close to each other. Plus it'd probably be awkward," Phil's dad replies.
"You think our bodies being pressed up against each other would be awkward? Gosh, dad. When was the last time you've cuddled with your loved one?" Phil asks, sarcastically.
"Well, we're going to get back to our house. Good night, Dan," my mum says, pressing a kiss to my cheek and walking out the door.

We walk up to Phil's room and Phil strips down to his boxers.
"Wow, Philly is exposing himself," I tease.
"It's not like you haven't seen me before," Phil replies.
"True," I say, stripping down to my boxers, also.
"Let's go to sleep. I'm tired after all the moving," Phil says, lying down on his bed.
"Same here," I say, but Phil is already fast asleep.
