As every night I awoke and removed my bandages, I looked down into my sarcophagus to see that she was still laying there in the exact same position that I left her. What if her soul didn't make it? I continued to watch her, slowly I saw her hand move. She reached up to her head struggling to pull at her bindings. "Ssshhh. It's okay. I'm here." She calmed down slightly as I removed her bandages.
"Ahk!" she flung her arms around my neck and hugged me. "I-I'm alive."
"Not quite." I spoke trying to be as calm as possible. "you are like myself. You will only be alive at night. In the morning you will be dead, and so the cycle will continue, forever."
"B-but..." Tears welled up in her eyes, "My brother? My education. My life. I have died at 18?"
"I died at 20, and there is only one way your brother can be with you.. Besides that, you must watch him grow up while you stay 18 forever."
Niamh's P.O.V.
Kill my own little brother, before his life has begun. No, I can't make that choice. If when he too is 18 he wants to be with us then so be it but now, no. So that was what death felt like. I could feel my life slipping away, I remember hearing Ahk's voice, it slowly faded as my vision faded to black. The rest was like a dream. I saw my own heart in front of me I vaguely remember something that looked like Ammut to my left. I saw Anubis, feather of Ma'at in hand. I was judged, and I passed, if I hadn't I wouldn't be here now. I ran through the halls of the museum, the museum that would now be my home, pain searing in my back. I collapsed keeling over on the floor.
As the pain subsided I slowly stood up. I saw my own reflection in the glass doors. I looked every bit the Egyptian woman, from the black Kohl around my eyes to the white dress I wore. The gold bands around my wrists and one on my left upper arm. The black wig upon my head with my hair perfectly tucked up under it. The single gold band around my forehead. The leather sandals on my feet. I couldn't wear this dress anymore though, a huge red blotch had stained both the front and the back where the Khopesh had entered and exited my body. A small child walked up to me.
"Are you one of the Egypt actors?" tears welled in my eyes as I nodded.
"Yes. Yes I am."
"Can you show me there, it's so cool. I wanna see the tablet."
"Of course, I shall take you to our Pharaoh." I lead him to what would now be my home. "My Pharaoh, I bring a child. He wished to meet you." He turned around and instantly played along.
"A child? You bring a child into my chambers?"
"He seeks your knowledge. He wishes to learn of your famous tablet."
"Or he is here to steal it." He said looking down on the young boy beside me.
"I do not believe that. I believe him to be an honest boy who only seeks the great knowledge of the king. Don't you?" I asked and the boy nodded. Ahk looked down on the boy's feet.
"He has shown me no respect." I bent down and placed the boy's left foot forward.
"Why Pharaoh, you seem mistaken I see he shows respect. Teach this child of your tablet."
"Yes it appears I was mistaken. Come child, allow me to show you my most prized possession." he lead the boy away to the tablet. I wandered around the Egyptology department until I came across another Egyptian dress, I pulled it out of the case and slipped it on. It was just like the other one, but without the massive blood stains.
I looked at myself in a mirror. "This is who I am now." I said quietly to myself.
"You look beautiful." I turned around to see a young girl, well she looked about 16. "You work here too?"
"Yes."
"Could you help me find Sacagawea? I'm a little lost."
"Sure She'll either be in the North America section or with Teddy." We tried North America and surely we found her. She pulled me into a hug.
"Welcome to the family." She smiled. "It get's easier. Don't you look like you fit in? Don't be shocked but look what I found." she held up four large canopic Jars.
"Are they.." She nodded. My internal organs are in there? I took them and headed back to Egypt and left the girl with Sacagawea. "Ahk?" he was sat on his own but rose from his seat when he saw me. I placed the four jars in front of him. "These mine?"
"Yes."
"Do you still have yours inside you?"
"No. like you I was given a special favour and my brain left inside my body."
"Oh." He pulled out a set of four exceptionally old jars.
"See, mine are in there."
"Thank you for all of this." I said gesturing to my attire.
"The least I could do. If this is to be your home now I want you to be happy." He placed another more highly decorated band around my forehead. "You look like you could be my queen." My stomach flipped at his words, well it would've had it not be inside a jar bearing the head of a Jackal. I could feel my cheeks flush and I lowered my head to hide the 'teenage-girl-smile' that was plastered over my face. "What?"
"I-I really like you Ahk." I smiled looking up at him.
"I hope so, You're stuck with me forever... I Like you too. Really like you." He looked at the clock on the wall outside the exhibit. "Nearly sunrise. We should get bound back up." I nodded and Anubis helped Ahk and I with our bandages and we got back into Ahk's sarcophagus. I felt sunrise approaching. It was like falling asleep.
