"Lucky Man" is a song by The Verve. It was written by singer Richard Ashcroft. The song was released as the third single from the band's third studio album, 'Urban Hymns' (1997). The Verve did not allow the video for this single to be played on the UK music show The Chart Show. The show had recently been re-designed and attracted much criticism; the band also criticized it, and refused to allow the song to be played unless the show was re-designed again just for the band, as the message claimed, and/or if the show played the video clean without any graphics overlaying it.The Chart Show didn't agree to this and in the Top Ten and Indie Chart, a message appeared explaining why the video wasn't shown on the channel.
Lyrics:
Happiness
More or less
It's just a change in me
Something in my liberty
Oh, my, my
Happiness
Coming and going
I watch you look at me
Watch my fever growing
I know just where I amBut how many corners do I have to turn?
How many times do I have to learn
All the love I have is in my mind?Well, I'm a lucky man
With fire in my handsHappiness
Something in my own place
I'm standing naked
Smiling, I feel no disgrace
With who I amHappiness
Coming and going
I watch you look at me
Watch my fever growing
I know just who I amBut how many corners do I have to turn?
How many times do I have to learn
All the love I have is in my mind?I hope you understand
I hope you understandGotta love that'll never die
Happiness
More or less
It's just a change in me
Something in my liberty
Happiness
Coming and going
I watch you look at me
Watch my fever growing
I know
Oh, my, my
Oh, my, my
Oh, my, my
Oh, my, myGotta love that'll never die
Gotta love that'll never die
No, no
I'm a lucky manIt's just a change in me
Something in my liberty
It's just a change in me
Something in my liberty
It's just a change in me
Something in my liberty
Oh, my, my
Oh, my, my
It's just a change in me
Something in my liberty
Oh, my, my
Oh, my, my
