Tomorrow is Rylie's first day of school. I know we just got back from tour but I didn't realize school was so close and according to mom she has to go. So Rydel and I signed her up at an elementary school right down the road for first grade. I really don't want her to go but she's super excited.

"Do you have all your things?" I ask.

"Yes! For the hundredth time, yes!" she answers.

"Sorry! I'm just making sure you're all ready." I defend. She rolls her little eyes and skips over to the coat rack, grabbing her jacket and reaching for the door. It's a little chilly today but I don't know why she's going outside. "Where are you going, missy?" I ask.

"To Auntie Rydel's house. She said to come over today and we could have a girl's day." she answers. My mom's house was only two houses down. I nodded and she ran out the door. I watched her go down the sidewalk and into my mom's house before leaving the window and letting her do her own thing.

~*~*~*~

The next morning, I was woken up by the sound of an air horn and little girl yelling.

"Get up, lazy head! School starts today!" Rylie screamed. She blew the air horn a few more times until I got out of bed and ripped it out of her hands.

"Go get dressed." I tell her. She puts her hands on her hips and looks at me sassily. Then I realize she's dressed. "Whatever. I'll make breakfast." I say. (A/N Rylie's outfit is attached). I change and then head downstairs and make breakfast quickly. Rylie eats at lightning speed then goes into the living room and turns on the t.v. Ten minutes before school starts, I turn off the t.v. and we head out to the car. I drive her to school, drop her off, then drive home. I really hope today goes well for her.

I spend the day in the R5 studio with my siblings and Ellington. We were writing more songs and recording some. I had to pick up Rylie at 3:30 so I leave the studio and pick her up. She comes running out of the school with a giant smile and another little girl following her. She has dark curly hair and dark eyes that have the same excitement in them as Rylie's. I get out of the car and meet her and her friend.

"Hey, princess. How was your first day of school?" I ask.

"Great! Daddy, this is my new best friend Kayla!" she exclaims.

"Hi Mr. Lynch! Can me and Rylie have a play date?" Kayla asks.

"Go ask your mommy and we can talk." I answer. Kayla runs off to find her mom and soon returns with a lady following her and an older girl on her phone.

"Hello, I'm Marissa, Kayla's mom." the lady introduces herself. I shake her hand.

"I'm Riker, Rylie's dad. So, I guess they want a play date." I say.

"Yeah. That works for me. I can pick them up after school tomorrow or whatever." Marissa states.

"Sure!" And that's what started a life long friendship.
