Chapter 3: Beginning of the Hunt

Thalia’s P.O.V.

It had been 3 days since Lady Artemis left us. I had to take charge, I needed to do something. I had never seen Lady Artemis as freaked as she was before. I almost wished that Apollo never came to check on us. If he didn’t, Lady Artemis would be here and we would know what was going on.

We were giving our white wolves a bath. They usually were clean, but the monster we were chasing went through a swamp, and the canines now smelled horribly like rotting fish. Lily, a new recruit, wrinkled her nose in disgust. I motioned for her to come to the front with me and she clung to my jacket. She was mortal; a beautiful girl who’d saved us in a Native American reservation. Her coal black hair, in a single braid down her back shone. Her coppery red skin glowed with energy. She was so cute. Suddenly Lady Artemis stopped. I was too focused on Lily and I bumped into her back. Lady Artemis put her finger to her lips and pointed at the small pond in front of us. A glowing figure was gliding to the shore. When it came on land, the light solidified into a teenage figure with flaming hair and a lyre: Apollo.
