Chapter Thirteen:

On Saturday, August the fifteenth someone showed up the doorstep of Number 4 Privet Drive; two someone's actually, both of whom I never expected to see on a Muggle street, at the step of a very Muggle home.

Draco Malfoy and Narcissa Malfoy.

At first, when a knock sounded on the wood, I'd thought nothing of it. Vernon answered it, saying a rather nice greeting so I assumed it was one of their friends but when Mother's voice echoed through the home I jumped out of my room from under the stairs and grinned wildly.

"Mum!" I dashed out from the hallway, practically lunging at her as I gripped her tightly around the waist. "I missed you."

I never was one for acting like a child but in that moment, all I could think about was the fact that they'd come for me, they were going to save me from this miserable existence. Thank merlin!

"As I've missed you, dear one."

I smiled, glancing towards Draco who's eyes didn't look nearly as happy and were focused on my cheek.

Ah, I forgot about that.

A bruise was adorning me, rather large and ugly looking but I liked it. It made me feel rugged and strong. "Stop staring Draco, it's rude," I muttered, squeezing once more around Cissy before releasing her and hugging Draco instead. "It's good to see you."

"Draco, go help Amy pack her things, I want to be out of here in less than five minutes," Mother said, sending us off to my cupboard before turning to Uncle Vernon. "We'll be taking Amaryllis from now on, she'll no longer be returning here. She shouldn't have come back in the first place. This place reeks of Muggle filth."

I grinned as Vernon (and Petunia, who had just shown up) spluttered about how their house most certainly did not reek of anything except perhaps the cleanly scent of pinesol.

I moved to my room and rounded up all my books, uniforms, supplies and candles and settled them into my rather small trunk (which was charmed and bigger on the inside) before picking it up and handing it to Draco; who nearly let it fall as the weight took him off guard.

I could never figure out how to make it lighter.

"You've been staying here? In this rancid, tiny.. hovel? Do they hit you? You've lost at least twenty pounds, do they even feed you here?"

"I have been staying here, this is my bedroom, they do and they don't." I answered his questions without hesitation, not caring if he knew or not. I wasn't ashamed, simply angry and in my mind, I was still plotting on how I'd get back at them.

I'd also get back at Harry for abandoning me here.. again.

"Perhaps later tonight we could come back and release some bugs in their home, and some snakes.. dogs.. cats.. maybe rats and mice. I know Daisy, one of our house elves, could get them for us."

Nodding, I grinned at Draco who's eyes were simultaneously filled with mischief and anger. I had no doubt that they'd be poisonous snakes.

Mother sent my belongs to my room in Malfoy Manor before taking us each by the hand and apparating; though I'd learned just early this year how to apparate, it still didn't stop the nauseous feeling that swept through me to be any easier to deal with. I wasn't even informed of where, exactly, we were going.

But it was made obvious by the colours, the noise, the shops and the children running around that we were in Diagon Alley. There was a distinct quietness about the place despite the noise and everyone seemed to be constantly checking over their shoulders as if at any moment someone would jump out and attack them. Ollivander's wand shop and the Florean's ice cream shop looked closed down, the lights in the shop were out and nobody went through their doors.
