Chapter 5: Take Flight

(Maria's P.O.V)

We had already bought our plane tickets to California and we were just waiting to get on the plane.

I couldn't believe I was gonna leave my life behind like this.

Jai and I were sitting next to each other with our hands intertwined. Jai hadn't noticed it but I had felt different ever since the very first day I saw them in concert.

It's like I was just struck by him. Jai had this thing over me.

I had always had a superstition about vampires and werewolves, but now that it was real .....I just didn't feel like myself.

It's like I had no choice in it all. Even though I love Jai, it just seems wrong.

But we were mates so I guess this had to be right, even if it feels so wrong.

Jai's eyes fell upon me. I turned to face him, giving him a weak smile.

He tightened his grip and I laid my head on his shoulder.

"Are you okay?" he asked kissing my forehead.

He noticed.

"I'm fine," I mumbled,"Just tired."

"You know the great thing about being a werewolf, is that I can tell when someone is lying. Their heart beat rises," he said.

"I'm not lying Jai," I said

Luke had eavesdropped on our conversation and slightly smiled.

"You know,... you and Samantha both like to hide how you feel," Luke observed.

Samantha smacked his shoulder and he wrapped his arm around her.

"No really I'm fine," I convinced myself.

"If you say so," Jai said watching me.

We got on the plane finding our seats and putting our luggage above us.

Jai sat by me, Luke sat by Samantha, Daniel sat by James, and Beau sat by this one girl that he was obviously fancying.

I was absolutely afraid of heights and I didn't know how to keep myself from dying inside. I think that's why I felt weird about this whole thing with Jai. I wasn't afraid of heights, I was afraid of falling.

I was afraid that I would shatter and no one would be there to pick up the pieces.

I closed my eyes as we started to take off.

I breathed and breathed.

My heart started to pound.

My breaths came in short pants.

Suddenly lips pressed against mine immediately igniting every part of me. All of my doubts about this whole thing disappeared.

The kiss grew more intense and the cravings grew stronger.

I didn't want to separate from him. I wanted this moment to last forever.

I just can't believe that not too long ago, we knew nothing about them.

Our kisses came in patterns, aligning with the beat of my heart.

Jai's finger tips laid upon my cheeks.

His touch was electrifying. Every part of me wanted to go further.

But I knew that it was too soon. I needed to figure him out first.

I pulled myself away from him, catching the breath that he took away from me.

"You don't have to be afraid, beautiful. You're my mate. I'm not going anywhere," he reassured me.

I rested my head on his shoulders putting all my worries to sleep.

"Falling isn't so scary," he mumbled.

"Not when I'm with you," I spoke.

He kissed my cheek.
