Ashton (his)
I sat at the kitchen table while Harley was in bed. I was scrolling through my Twitter feed waiting for Mandy to get home. She's filling in for someone at the hospital for just a few days. I miss her a whole lot but I didn't want to be the one to stop her from working. I support her no matter what. "Hey Ashers" my head snapped up and there she was standing in the door way. She walked over and sat down across from me. "Whoa you snuck in on me! How was your first day back at work?" I asked trying to make eye contact but she was staring into space. Something didn't seem right about her. "Oh it was okay.... How was your day with Harley?" She made eye contact for a split second then stared at the yellow flowers on the table. "She was good. We had no problems. She almost said her first word! But couldn't make out what it was. It was really cute though! Too bad you missed it." I said not meaning to make her further upset but it did. Her face lit up for a second saying "Aw" then it dropped back. "Are you alright honey? You seem off..." I reached for her hands covering them with mine. She took a deep breath, "Ashton, Im really not to go back to work. Harley was all I could think about and I don't want to miss anything. Nows just not the time." I nodded. I can only imagine what her day was like. I smiled sympathetically and squeezed her hands. "Baby you don't need to go anywhere. If your not ready then please stay home. At one point I almost lost it. I honestly don't know how you do it."
Calum (her)
"Hey I'm home early!" I walked into the  living room and found Calum half asleep spread out on the couch with Bird on his chest. It's so adorable how it takes her a half hour to climb from his waist to his chin. "Hey." Calum said whispered sleepily. Poor thing had a concert late last night and on top of that had to take care of the baby all day. I quietly walked out to the kitchen and grabbed a cold beer.  Then walked back and placed it on the coffee table beside Calum. "Thanks Rache." He muttered. I picked up Bird, "Let's give Daddy break. He needs to relax" I said to her as she babbled 'de-de'. I kissed Calum on the cheek, "Thank you Cal." He grinned then passed out asleep. I took Bird upstairs to my and Calum's room. I placed her in the center of the bed. "Let's read a story shall we?" I said picking up a book from the floor. "Pat the Bunny!" A new book I we got in the mail from my dad . She smiled up at me and I jumped on the bed dragging her close to me. "The fur on bunny's belly is soft." I said running my fingers over the white fur of the bunny on the cover. I picked up her small hand and ran her fingers on the fur. She giggled and babbled sounds. "Yes soft!" I said. When I got to the end of the story I closed it and put it on my nightstand. Bird became fussy. "Oh no baby! What is it?" I cooed. "Do you want to read it again?" I said grabbing the book and she stopped fussing. "Ok we'll read it again." I opened the book yet again.
After we read the 'Pat the Bunny' for about the thirtieth time, Bird fell asleep in my arms. I let her sleep there for few moments looking down at her. Maybe I don't have to chose between work or being a mom. "Look at my girls." Calum was lent against the door frame with the beer in his hand. I grinned at him. "Come lay down with us." I said to my husband. "Sure thing Mrs. Hood." He mimicked the guy that gets me coffee at work. I laughed softly not to wake Bird. He gently laid down as close as he could to me with Bird in the middle of us. I took his beer and took a huge gulp of it then handed it back. "I love you so much Cal." I stated running a hand through his dark hair that's still perfectly blow dried from last night. "And I love you so much Rache." He said back. "I feel like I haven't been telling you that too often and its great to say." There was something about this moment right here right now that made me love him more then ever. I don't know what it is. Maybe it's our perfect baby in the middle of us or him being so close to me and absolutely handsome. He matched my grin, "It's great to hear."
Luke (him)
"Oh that's great mom!" I said through the phone. I was doing my weekly phone call to my parents as Chase sat in his playpen. "Shes taking a shower upstairs....I'll tell her you said hi....ok bye." I hung up the phone and looked at Chase. He was crawling, yes crawling(!) to the other side. Little Chasie started crawling a week ago and he's pretty fast. "Hey buddy!" I waved to him and he turned around smiling. He actually hated being keep captive in the playpen. I was about to get up to get him out but I felt a pair of hands wrapped around me from behind. Then soft lips traveling from my shoulder to up my neck. "Hey Lukey." She whispered and I moaned as she continued. Sam came around and sat in my lap turning this into a make out session. I opened my eyes and saw Chase looking at us. I really wanted to keep going but couldn't. I pulled away, "Sam," I whispered. "What's wrong?" She asked kissing my jawline making it so much harder to end this. "We can't do this." I said and she pulled away looking hurt. "Why not?" I gazed at Chase looking at us then back to her. "Because it's not right with Chase in the same room as us. It makes me uncomfortable." I sighed. "He's just a baby. He won't remember this." She said but it seemed like she knew I was right. "I know but we have to be mindful when Chase is around. If we won't stop know then there's no telling when we will. I still remember when my brothers and I walked in on my parents. I'm scared for life." I put my arm around her shoulder. She groaned, "I know. You're right." "I know it's really hard to keep your hands off me." I smirked tilting my head. She laughed pushing my head. "I miss you even though your right in front of me. Your either doing something for work or your here with the baby or doing house chores and if your not doing one of those things then I'm doing it. We never seem to meet in the middle." She said and her grey eyes met my blue ones. I look down at my fidgety hands. It's true, we never meet in the middle. I know it my seem selfish. Don't get me wrong we love Chase unconditionally and nothing's going to change that. But a little us time wouldn't hurt.  "Maybe we could work out some sort of plan like an 'us' schedule when we carve out time just for us. It could just be ten minutes when he's sleeping or a night. We have plenty of babysitters." I kissed her cheek. We can make it work. "That sounds like a good plan..... Did you know it's been almost a year since we, you know did it?" My eyes went wide again. No, there's no way.... But the more I think about it... "Oh my gosh. How am I still breathing?" I groaned. "Did you also know that my bra size went up a few sizes since Chase?" She said coming closer to me. I raised my eyebrows, "I'll call my mom back and see if she wants to watch her grandson tonight."
Michael (her)
"Come on Dylan! Crawl to daddy!" I encouraged. Dylan hasn't started crawling yet but Jackson has. He only does these bottom scoots which, don't get me wrong are adorable but I'd like to see him crawl like his brother. "Come here dill pickle!" Michael said holding his hands out. Dylan looked at me like I was trying to kill him. I smiled and shook my head then looked over at Jackson. He found Michaels toes very interesting. "What if Jackson showed him?" I suggested. Michael nodded, "Why not?" I tried getting Jacksons attention. "Hey Jackson, wanna show Dylan how to crawl?" I asked him but he couldn't get over Michaels toes. "Seems like he prefers my toes!" Michael laughed and wiggled his toes. "Some day your feet will be as big as daddy's. Maybe bigger!" I poked his tiny feet. Dylan seemed like he wanted to join the fun. He started to scoot closer but then fell forward on his hands. I wasn't quick to help him up because taking tumbles is part of learning. "Mike!" I whispered not taking my eyes off Dylan. I held my breath as one hand went foward then the other. Pretty soon he was crawling over to Jackson! Michael and I looked up at each other then at Dylan. "Go Dylan!" We cheered even Jackson smiled at him. Michael lifted Dylan and soared him above him like an airplane. I grabbed Jackson and did the same for him so he wouldn't feel left out. I grinned,  "Now we have two crawling babies."
