(3) Riley's Surprise

I smelled the coffee brewing when I woke from my sleep. I got up and opened my bedroom door to see Gunner sitting at the kitchen table watching Sponge Bob on Riley's laptop. While Riley cooked pan cakes and watched Boondocks Saint's 2 from the living room.

"Ding dong MF'er Ding dong." Gunner said as Riley laughed but then stopped in mid-laugh when she saw me and so did Gunner.

"Good morning." Riley said smiling at me.

"Good morning." I said grabbing my coffee cup that had fresh coffee in it.

"What time did you get in?" Riley asked as she slapped butter on Gunner's pan cake and then poured syrup on it before cutting it up and sitting it in front of Gunner.

"Around 7ish." I said running my hand thru Gunner's hair before kissing his forehead.

"Did you have fun?" Riley asked as she turned her head to the TV to see Murphy aka Norman Reedus. I watched as she closed her eyes and smiled at the thought of him.

"Yeah...he stayed till closing time then we went out for coffee." I said as I took my usual seat beside of Gunner and in front of Riley.

"That's good, are you seeing him again?" Riley asked as she sat the butter and syrup as well as my pan cakes in front of me.

"What don't I get the special pan cake treatment?" I asked. "and yes...today." I added.

"What? I'm not your slave your a big girl you can do your own pan cakes." Riley said as Gunner laughed.

"Yeah Mommy I'm Riley's buddy so I get the Special pan cake treatment." Gunner said as he shoved a big bite of pan cake into his mouth.

"Yep, that's right bubbie." Riley said giving Gunner the knuckle bump. "Sooo....what's the occasion today?" Riley asked.

"Richard is coming to pick me up to take me to pick up my truck." I said and I fixed my pan cakes.

"Is that all?" Riley asked looking at me.

"Mommy when can Richard come back over to watch more Sponge Bob with me?" Gunner asked with his mouth full.

"I don't know baby...but chew with your mouth closed I don't want you to get choked." I said as Gunner closed his mouth. "And yes that is all." I added looking at Riley.

"Yeah...you don't want the hiney remover." Riley said as Gunner gave her a shocked look and continued to eat with his mouth closed. "So when is he coming over?" Riley asked.

"When I call him." I said as I took a sip of my coffee.

After breakfast Riley cleared the table and put Gunner on the counter so he could help her with the dishes while I went back to my room to get dressed in my worn out denim blue jeans and a black turtle neck sweater.

Once dressed I found my phone and called Richard... he said he was sitting at City Cafe with a friend of his while talking to Tammy and that he could be on his way shortly. After hanging up the phone with Richard I finished getting ready, I straightened my long auburn hair and had my first morning cigarette so I could brush my teeth.

After I was done primping I went back to the living room where Riley and Gunner sat on the couch watching Hotel Transylvania, when the buzzer went off making Riley and Gunner jump at the sound.

"Well that should be my ride...I love you guys I'll be back later." I said kissing them both good bye then grabbed my keys.

"Love you too." Riley and Gunner both said at the same time as I headed out of the door. I had to smiled when I heard Riley tell Gunner (jinx you owe me a coke.)
