Mehrish Hossain:

A week had already passed since my Walima, how quickly time flies. We just dropped off Zuni Api and Armaan Bhaiya at the airport. Watching her get emotional made my own eyes well up; I couldn’t help but cry too.

The moment felt so heavy. She left us with countless beautiful memories I’ll always cherish. They’re heading back to London, and Mehwish Api, Fardin Bhaiya, and my little munchkins flew to Australia just two days ago. Maybe that’s why I’m feeling extra emotional now.

Back to ordinary life again.

I let out a sigh.

I’m going to miss them.

“Tomorrow we’re back to work. I hope you remember to keep your personal and professional life separate at the office. You’ll be my secretary there,” his cold voice snapped me out of my thoughts. I turned to look at him; his expression was calm, both hands steady on the steering wheel.

At the office, you’ll be my secretary.’ As if that means he treats me like a wife at home.

I rolled my eyes and chose to ignore him completely.

He noticed my silence. Out of the corner of his eye, I could tell he was waiting for me to say something, maybe to argue back, as usual. But I didn’t. I just kept looking out the window.

Suddenly, I noticed something.

The house of my first love!

An Ice-cream stall.

“Stop stop stop the car!” I blurted out, pointing ahead.

He blinked at me, hands tightening on the steering wheel. “What? Now?” His voice was sharp, irritated.

“Yes! There’s an ice-cream stall right there!" I said loudly, pointing at the stall. "So what?" he replied, irritated.

"I need Ice-cream right now, please!" I pleaded with my eyes wide, trying not to sound like a child throwing a tantrum.

He let out a low, annoyed groan. “Are you serious? Right now?”

“Yes!” I insisted, bouncing a little in my seat. “Please… just one ice cream cone. Chocolate one!"

He was quiet for a moment, jaw tightening, clearly debating whether he should allow my whim or scold me. I held my breath, my fingers nervously twisting the strap of my bag.

Finally… he exhaled sharply and muttered, “Fine. But only because I don’t want to hear you nagging the entire ride home,"

I grinned temptingly, clapping my hands softly. “Yay! You’re the best, Mr. Khan!”

Arrghhh, my inner child woke up!!!

He shot me a look from the corner of his eye, lips twitching as if he was trying to suppress a smile. “Don’t start calling me that. And don’t expect this to become a habit.”

"So what should I call you? Aru?" I asked mischievously, catching his face turning red. I couldn't control my chuckle.

"I am not getting you the Ice-cream now," he said, being serious, making my face drop.

This man!

"Allah nahhh pleaseee!!! Sorry," I immediately apologized. I only did it for my first love; otherwise, you all know who has the higher points on our scoreboard.
