"A B plus?!" India Capello shrieked as she angrily waved the exam result in front of her algebra teacher.

Mr. Maurizio leant back in his chair, and sighed.

"Yes India that is a B plus. try harder next time." Her brow twitched in anger at his usual apathetic tone. For some reason, the fact that he didn't sound like he gave a damn pissed her off more than usual. "I knew how to solve the majority of the equations. What went wrong?" she calmly demanded, a slight hint of anger in her voice.
He closed his eyes in frustration and sighed, giving in to her annoying demands as he sat up straighter and stretched a hand out to her. "Hand it over. I'll tell you what went wrong."

She nearly shoved the exam into his open hands and patiently waited as he pulled out the exam sheet and set them aside in comparison. "You were alright in the multiple choice, but it went downhill when you had to solve the equations." He pulled out a pile of answer sheets and rummaged through them before setting hers on the desk and pointed at the unsolved equations she had written. "You started well on each equation, but you didn't finish them all. You left many incomplete. And while you started on the right track, you skipped a few key steps and just wrote the answer in the end. That makes it an improper answer. Even though the answers were correct, you didn't show much work as to how you got it." He grabbed the exam sheets and began to put them away in his bag. "I assume that you forgot parts of the steps. And if you don't show how you got the answer, then the answer itself is illogical since there is no evidence as to where or how you got the answers." He stood up from his desk and zipped his bag shut as she placed a hand on her forehead in frustration.

"Now that you know why you got a B+, I assume that you'll take my advice and study harder for the next test, and try to make sure to memorize the steps. Have a nice day, India." He frankly said and walked past her.

"Mr. Maurizio?" she called out. He turned around and eyed her. "Yes?" he said ever so calmly.

She turned to face him with narrowed eyes and stood in an almost aggressive stance, as she defiantly crossed her arms."Who got an A in this class?" she asked in an eloquent manner. His eyes shifted up in a thoughtful manner for a few seconds before returning back onto her demanding eyes. "Renton." The math teacher replied, and judging by how her expression changed he could have sworn he saw smoke eradicate from her ears.

She nearly stomped her foot while curling her fists hard like some kind of toddler in the climax of a tantrum. She huffed in anger. "Of course. Why am I not surprised. Thankyou Mr. Maurizio." She flung her bag on her right shoulder with more force than necessary and all but stomped out of the classroom. The teacher sighed and closed the classroom door.

Out of all the students he ever had, she was memorably the most dedicated-yet headstrong of them all.

She briskly walked through the school halls and ignored the many glances of the students nearby, as she was too submerged into her own thoughts.

No matter what I do, she thought bitterly. No matter what I do, or say, or get, that asshole always, always gets a higher result than me.

There was nothing more she liked than a little competition and challenges in life. But this kid was becoming a thorn in her path.

Now you would wonder why she despised Renton Lennox.
Despite being his next door neighbor for more than twelve years and only spoke to him once, She came to learn that Renton Lennox was a stuck up, self-righteous, good looking piece of trash. She barely even spoke with him, even though his parents got along quite well with her own parents, and his younger sister.

He was the lucky kid who had all fours. Incredibly tall, incredibly good looking, incredibly smart, incredibly athletic, incredibly wealthy, any girl's Prince charming, right?
