He stumbled back, eyes wide with shock. His hand slowly reached to touch his face.
It almost seemed as if time stood still. And the cafeteria had gone terribly quiet. She paid no attention to it, and focused on glaring at the stunned boy in front of her.
"Shut the fuck up, Lennox." she growled. "You racist, stuck up, arrogant shit...Who the hell do you think you are, acting all high and mighty, treating everyone around you like garbage! Your way of thinking is disgusting!"
"What is going on in here!?" a voice shouted from behind her, and she cringed.
Crap.
It was Mr. Larsen.
She was so screwed.
The Counselor shifted his eyes from her to Lennox, and noticed the large red mark on his face, just inches above his cheekbone. He approached the still stunned boy and carefully inspected his face before barking at the four students who stood there like statues, still processing what had just happened, just like everyone else.
"You four, go enjoy lunch. Renton, go to the Nurse's office. meet you there in a minute." he turned to her. "Pack your stuff and come with me." he sternly ordered, and she didn't think twice. She hurried to where she had left her stuff, packed and silently left, feeling the eyes of almost everyone in the cafeteria.
Adrenaline quickly wore off, and now she nervously walked through the halls with the tall teacher, biting her nails as she went.
She never caused any problems. Her school record was perfectly clean and excellent. She now felt terrible, but not for the victim of course. She feared that this stupid mistake might ruin her school resume, something she was working so hard on. Plus the promise she did to her father...
And now it was all going to hell for letting Lennox's words get to her. Or more importantly, why did she even bother stand up to him in the first place? It was stupid and irrational, and now she was going to pay the price for it.
But then again, he really, really deserved that punch.
she hadn't even known where that come from. While she did admit that she was a bit...passionate, she never really was a violent person and always tried to fix things verbally instead of using violence, but...It felt wrong, but it also felt right. She couldn't choose either.
Mr. Larson stopped in front of the Principal's Office and barged in, only to come out a few seconds later. "Go to your Counselor." he ordered, and she swiftly turned around and speed walked out the first floor hallway.
She wasn't used to this feeling of fear. She wasn't used to being in trouble, and she didn't like the feeling, either. She slowly jogged up the stairs and momentarily wondered how her parents would react at the news. Sad. Angry. Ashamed. Maybe the three combined. A extra plus of anger after they find out the person she sucker punched was the next door neighbour's son, she added glumly.
She stood in front of her Counselor's office and braced herself before opening the door and face her passive older sister, sitting behind her desk. Her fingers intertwined as she patiently stared India down even when she sat.
"India" she started, her voice calm, but her brow twitched in anger. "Would you mind...to explain to me, why Mr. Larsen had just called me, informing me how you got in a fight with a boy?"
India stayed quiet, and refused to look at her in the eye. She wasn't ready to meet her sister's intense eyes, much less filled with disappointment.
"You should ask him." she replied rather flatly.
