Dear Mom,
California is perfect. It like never rains here, I honestly don't know if I'm ever coming back home(Jk I will). I'm going to that audition for The Y Series that you got me. I still can't imagine how you pulled the strings to get me that audition. Especially since I loved reading the books, I still can't believe they're making it into a movie! If I get the part. Well...I'll be so happy I'll fly to the moon, but only if you come with. Tell Cameron I said hi and let Dad know I'm fine. I swear he's called like 12 times since I landed.
Love,
Cassie
P.S. If you could like ship your chili. I'd love that.
P.P. S. My roommate says hi.
*
"Cassandra Willis?" A young African-American woman calls out my name, a clipboard in her hand and my destiny behind the door she just popped out from.
"Here." I answer, rising up from the sticky waiting chair. The palms of my hands sweating like crazy, I quickly swipe them on my pants and walk towards the woman.
"Cassandra?" She asks to confirm.
"Yeah." I croak, my whole body sweating.
"Okay, follow me." She seems nice, unlike the receptionist who had glared at me the moment I stepped into the waiting room. "So is this your first audition?"
"Uh, kinda. This is my first major audition though." I mumble, my heart thumping faster with each step. I feel dizzy and thirsty.
"Oh, well this should be a breeze." She smiles.
"I sure hope so." I wipe my hands again, wishing for a fan of some sort. Like a Hand-fan, I am so gonna trademark that.
"Honey, you got this." She says encouragingly, patting me on the shoulder, before stopping in front of a steel door.
"Than-." I begin to answer, when a girl bursts out the door in tears.
She stares at me quietly. "They'll rip you to shreds." She keeps staring before fleeing away.
I am suddenly more nervous than ever. I never knew just how much the human body could sweat until now.
"Oh, don't worry, she's probably, y'know trying ta scare ya." The woman tries to comfort me, but she fails.
"NEXT! AND CAN SOMEONE BRING ME A GIN AND TONIC!" A shrill voice erupts from the room.
"It'll be fine." The woman says, except she doesn't seem to believe it either.
I hesitantly open the door. I am doing this. I can do this. I walk to the makeshift stage keeping my eyes firmly on my feet. I can do this. I can do this. Fuck I can't do this.
" Hello, welcome. I'm Elena Banks and we're so happy to have you here Cassandra." A woman with soft brown eyes says, she looks nice and sweet, unlike the woman beside her, who has a sharp haircut and eagle-like green eyes.
"Hi." I say, forcing myself to at least try to look back.
The mean looking woman scowls. "Let's cut to the chase. We've seen over 200 other people who thought that they could be mother-fucking Darby Incarnate! Every time I think we've got it, one person who can act pretty well and then these two motherfuckers next to me say no. So start with the first few lines in Scene 1 and SOMEONE GET ME A MOTHER FUCKING GIN AND TONIC!"
I grimace, her voice is like a vulture's shriek.
"Sorry, Cassandra, Karen's a bit on edge. I'm Darlene, the author."
I gasp, the woman was beautiful, with dark hair and small but curious grey eyes. I have always wanted to meet her, her books had been my entire childhood and now she was staring at me, with a small smile, I would've swooned but Karen had began to glare.
"What are you waiting for? Start!" She demands.
I pick up a script from the bin and then I began.
