Chapter 36

Regan's p.o.v.

My heart raced. The wolf's eyes traveled between Shawn and I. I glance at Shawn and he just stares at the wolf in horror.

"Shawn." I say. The wolf turns to me. Who the hell was this?!

Two Hours Earlier

Julianne's p.o.v.

"Julianne quick! We need to get Hayes there before he turns! You know he turns as soon as the sun goes down." Ella looks at me.  I roll my eyes and wave to Cameron. He winks at me as Hayes crawls into my car. I speed off down the road. Into the mountains we go.

"How much longer?" Hayes asks as I turn down a street.

"40 minutes. We just got out of town Hayes. Can you handle it?" I ask. He nods but I don't believe him. There was no way he could make it all the way without starting. Suddenly I hear a yelp from behind me. Hayes grasps his stomach. He groans loudly as I hear a breaking noise.

"Julianne-" He screams. Shit.

"Ella listen. Hayes has to get out up here. I'll take him into the woods and help him. I need to stay with him. You finish the drive and go into the mountains. Tell James I'm helping a newbie when you turn back." I order. She nods as I swerve into a secret side road. I get out and Hayes climbs out after me.

"It hurts-" He starts. I hear another snapping noise and he falls to the ground.

"Hayes listen to me. We need to get into the woods. I'll help you as much as I can. It hurts but you can do it okay?!" I ask. He nods as I see tears stream down his face. I grab his shoulders and help him into the deep trees. We get deep enough to where I can't see the road.

"Juli- What if I run? W-what if I go and attack someone. You said it yourself... We just left town." He pants as his arm grasps his shoulder.

"Try to stay okay? I can't stop you." I admit. He nods and grabs a tree for support. I gasp as he screams. His leg breaks and bends completely backwards. He cries in pain. I run over and try to comfort him. My hand grasps his hair as I move his eyes to mine.

"Julianne. It hurts like hell." He cries. I sigh loudly.

"You can handle it. Think of the one thing that makes you happy okay? Focus on it. Keep your mind trained on it." I try. He closes his eyes. When they re open, they are the golden yellow color. He breathes heavily.

He mumbles something inaudible under his breath.

This goes on for another hour.

He's in full on tears and screams as his bones break. The moon has risen and he's almost changed. I feel myself start changing. My bones start breaking. Suddenly I hear a final scream come from Hayes. I turn to see a glimpse of black running past me. I force myself to finish changing. He disappears. I knew exactly where he was heading.

Regan's p.o.v.

Recent time

My body freezes. I stare at Shawn from across the room. I take a small step towards Shawn. The wolf blocks my path. I step back. Shawn glances nervously towards me.

Suddenly another noise is heard from upstairs. Please don't let it be Cameron. The wolf turns toward the noise.

Another flash erupts into the basement. Another wolf. This one has gray streaks along the course of its body. It's eyes are yellow. The wolves snarl at each other. The gray one is a little bigger and looks a lot fiercer. Their eyes never leave each other's.
