*Logan’s POV*
Lying with Anna entwined with me, I couldn’t have been happier. How did I live without this girl my whole life? She was sleeping now, her head peacefully on my chest. I smiled at how angelic she looked. Her hair was fanned out around her, tickling me. “Annabelle…” I whispered, trying to wake her up.
“Hmm?” she didn’t open her eyes.
“When do you want to… you know, tell everyone?” I asked softly. Now her eyes opened.
“I really don’t know, Logan. I suppose soon.”
“I was thinking, we might want to tell Luke before anyone else.”
“Why?”
“Well he is my best friend. Not to mention your older brother- don’t you think he’ll be a bit protective or mad, knowing his baby sister found her mate, and that it’s his best friend?”
“That’s true. It’s not like he can do anything about it though; you’re his Alpha.”
“That won’t stop him from being upset,” I said, caressing her smooth face.
She sighed, “I know.”
We finally got out of bed and got dressed. We were on a mission to announce to Luke that we were mates. I was nervous, but I can tell Anna was way more nervous. I took her hand and squeezed it reassuringly. “It’ll be fine,” I said. She nodded and smiled back, but it was a bit forced.
We found Luke in his room, playing video games.
“Hey Luke,” I said. He paused his video game and looked up at us. “Um… hey guys. What’s up?”
“Can we talk to you?”
“Sure.” Logan brought me over to the other beanbag chair that was across from Luke’s.
“Luke, do you remember that party you had to miss because you were sick a little more than a week ago?” Anna started. “Yeah..?”
“At that party… Logan and I sort of… um… realized we were…”
“Mates,” I finished bluntly. Luke’s face was completely blank. Then he stood up, and just stood there for a second. Then he turned and kicked the beanbag chair against the wall with a harsh thud. It made Anna gasp inwardly, so I pulled her closer. She calmed down when I did, making me smile a bit.
Then I realized why she jumped in the first place. Luke was obviously pissed. And I could tell Anna was scared.
“Luke man…”
He looked back at me with flames in his eyes. I stood up, making Anna whimper.
“Calm down,” I said, almost pleading him. I didn’t want Anna to be this scared- it was her brother for Christ’s sake. Suddenly he landed a right hook on me. Man, that hurt. I had quick reflexes though, slamming him up against the wall without warning.
“Never hit me again,” I growled.
He looked at me with so much anger and betrayal, that it hurt me to know I was doing this to my best friend. But it was for my mate- I loved her more than anything in the world, and nothing could change that.
My poor Anna was in tears now. I didn’t even need to look at her- I could feel her emotions that easily. I wanted nothing more than to hold her as tight as I could at that moment.
“Logan,” she whispered, making me give in. I gave Luke one last glare, then turned back to my mate. She was crying silently. “Luke…” she started.
